detonation after new screened maf
I just recently purchased a new screened maf to replace my descreened one now. the car detonates like crazy loses all power up top i always run 91 octane its all we got in az no 93. The maf is from a 99 vette dont know if that makes a difference

Unless something else is really wrong unplugging it will send the car into VE only mode which is a table programmed by GM to estimate air/fuel to make the car run.
It will set a code for MAF failure but should run decent. If it runs like crap with either the other MAF or MAF unplugged, you need to get someone with a good scanner to help diagnose the cause.
This is all assuming you didn't just get some crap gas...it happens and no brand is safe.
