FRC or Z06 either one is lighter than the coupe because it doesn't have the huge hatch hanging over the ***. I don't know if you guys have ever handled glass but it is SERIOUSLY heavy. The Z06 of course had other stuff, thinner front windshield, those fancy brake ducts, LS6, titanium exhaust. These things made it about 40 pounds light than the standard hardtop FRC. I think you both know what the guy was getting at.

If really would come down to how the car was optioned. Fully optioned out FRC without the magnesium wheels is going to be pretty close a coupe Corvette, same thing could be said about a coupe with magnesium wheels and no power options.Either way it still going to be allot lighter than an f-body.

I like the idea of the stall and bolt on, but a nice 100-150 shot on a bolt on corvette would be a pretty stout ride if you ask me.

That is a good 250 pounds heavier than any corvette made after 1997.

I may be off 25-50 pounds in my statement, but the fact is a vette weighs considerably(meaning 200lbs. + lighter) less than an automatic f-body.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrol...vette_%28C5%29

Corvette coupe (OP has) - 3172lb

Stripper Z28 - 3250lb

https://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-raci...z28-weigh.html

3250lb - 3172lb = 78lb

The vette convertible is 3247lb. 3lb difference. Thanks for playing.

3200lbs for a C5 is still lighter than what most of us drive unless we started ripping **** out of it.

I was stating 1 fact and 1 fact only.... LS1T56FTW said fade2black must have a FRC.... It is clearly stated in his sig "2001 C5", which would make it impossible for it to be a Zo6.

Nothing more, nothing less.

BTW...

Martin said: 3450 pounds with a 200 pound driver

Which would be 3250 exactly.

LS1T56FTW arguing with Martin stated: Stripper Z28 - 3250lb

Sounds like Martin was dead on to me.

Honestly.. After reading all these replies I'm not sure who is arguing what or with who and who is agreeing with what and with who.

Maybe I'm just confused.

My point exactly, the vast majority of the street cars we see on tech are no where near as stripped as these ones we are quoting these numbers from, those are guys that have lightened their car pretty much as much as they can without going crazy and still want to be able to drive the car to and from the strip. I think 36-3800 is a much more realistic number for a F-body.

Your average H/C street Camaro/TA will be a good bit heavier than a Corvette.

As to what we are arguing about I was merely pointing out that a Z06 or FRC can actually end up weighing almost just as much as a coupe if it is heavily optioned when compared to a standard or all manual coupe. The biggest difference in the weight is the absence of the glass. The same thing can be said with F-bodys.

I weighed my FULL weight fully loaded Ws6 (heavy *** cast manifolds/cats/etc etc) today... Almost half a tank with me in it was 3660. That is 3485 without me in it and half a tank almost.

My Pewter car is 3450 with me in... No weight taken out except for weight that comes off during normal modding and pro stars, nothing else done to the car for the sake of saving/taking off weight.. That comes to 3275 without me.
Drive the Pewter car to and from the track, it is a full weight street car. Loaded interior, leather, AC, ABS, etc etc...

My 99TA with the rear seat/spare/belts out weighed 3700lbs without me in it with a full tank of fuel.

Your reading comprehension is sooo close...yet so far.

I don't think I have to do the math for you again...do I?

P.S. I am done arguing with you guys. Swinging this dudes nuts for running slow times isn't what he came in here for, which is what I was originally mentioning when I brought up the topic of weight differences between the different models.

I'm not commenting about his times being slow for what his car is or not. You just came off like a *****, that's why I hopped in on this train because you made the comment that a C5 coupe ain't all that much lighter than a fbody. But from what I know and I have seen there is a good bit of weight difference between your average fbody and average c5, I felt like martins number were pretty accurate and that there is a usual difference of at least 200 pounds. Does this change when people start ripping stuff out or adding sub... of course. I just felt compelled to argue with you because you seem like an ***.
