I recently bought a 2000 trans am, could anyone please tell me what these cars are putting out I've heard everything from 305- 345 if anyone could shine some light on this topic I ould greatly appreciate it. I'm also wondering what are some easy ways to squeeze some extra power out of it. It is the non ram air variant

Officially you have a 305 HP engine in that T/A. As many have posted over the years, the official HP rating appears to be rather low in actuality.
I tend to agree. My GT is rated at 300 HP and the weight is about the same as the T/A. The T/A is definitely faster, especially at higher speeds. Not light years faster but certainly feels more than 10 HP (my '01 supposedly is 310 HP). Also, when I jumped from the LT1 in my '96 Formula to the LS1 it certainly seemed quicker than a lousy 25 HP (Formula was 285 HP) and the Formula was 'lighter', not a convertible. Just a personal experience perspective. All cars 'stock' and new with no mods. The GT is a 5 speed vs the automatics in the F-bodies.
Others can chime in about the mods needed for more HP. I'm a rare 'stock' guy.

I recently purchased a 2000 trans am non ram air. I've been trying to find out what the power output is on it. I've heard a lot of different thing ranging anywhere for 305-345 hp. If anyone could answer this question I'd really appreciate it.

All LS1 engines make about 345-350hp stock. Doesn't matter if it's in a C5, a Trans Am, a Z28, an SS, a Formula, etc. GM played games with the numbers to make the higher trim level cars look more powerful on paper, but the engine is the same and makes the same power among all the trim levels (other than some small gains for optional SLP add-ons that are model year dependent). Later model year LS1s make slightly more power due to improvements in the stock intake and exhaust manifolds, and head casting process.
For the 2000 model year F-bodies, the factory ratings ranged from 305hp for a base model (Z28/Formula/Trans Am) to 320hp for the SS/WS6 cars (or 330hp for Firehawk or SS with upgraded SLP exhaust). In reality, your 2000 Trans Am actually makes about 345-350hp stock, same as a C5.

Thank you for the information. I had heard that gm underrated the trans am and camaro so that people would still dole out the big bucks for their flagship corvette.
