Default Low Idle Oil Pressure?

at idle with 5.5q of oil, at operating temperature, my pressure drops to around 30psi. is this too low? i have a 408 with a ported/polished LS6 oil pump and stock LS1 oil pan. any other info needed to see if this is about right?

I notice this once in a while with my car, a stock LS1, when I drive it around for a while and it gets hot. I'll notice my pressure drop below 40 (around 30-35psi). Imo seems normal, I run 10w-30 in my motor.

Your Pressure is fine. I run 30 psi at operating temps idle on my 408. As long as your pressure builds with RPMs your fine. GM Specs are close to 30 psi at idle.

As the motor runs hotter the oil thins out so it makes sense if the pressure runs a bit lower at idle. The most important thing is that thw pressure goes as normal with your driving i.e. 60-80psi at WOT, 30-40ish psi with normal driving.

As long as you increase with revs, you are fine. When revs dont have effect on pressure, you have to check things out...
