... Whatever happened to the LS8?
I know sometime ago, back in 2007, GM was thinking about building an new motor for the Camaro SS. The rumor was that it was going to a supercharged variant of the LS dubbed the LS8 built specifically for the Zeta platform.
Clearly, that didn't happen. We got the LS3 instead in SS model, and supercharged variants of that motor (LSA/LS9).
Do you think GM will ever go back to that designation? I mean, it's not like they haven't done so in the past. After all, the LT1 is currently in it's third state of revival. It just makes me wonder if they're saving those unused designations (including the LS5 for arguments sake) for anything special.
Whatever. We all know the LS was a divine gift from above anyway.

Specifically, I remember the article on MotorAuthority a few years back talking about it.

I mean, this was a while ago. Before the latest edition of Camaros even came out.
What he said basically.

There was supposed to be an LS8 when the supercharged engines came out. It was supposed to be for the trucks. It was essencially a lower output LSA that did not have an intercooler. It never made it obviously

I don't think there ever was an LS8, they wont build a new engine only for the sake of their Australian partners either. Maybe they were saving these designations for new unexpected platforms.
