Can't find one!

Can't find one!
I've been hunting for a manual 4th gen Camaro or Firebird with an LS1 for months now. I simply cannot find one in my area. It's driving me nuts! Everything is either an auto, has 150,000+ miles, or they want $18,000+ for it.
I can find Mustangs around here all day long, even lower production models like Cobras and Mach 1's. Am I being too picky? Did they not make many stick cars?
I'm about to just give up and be happy with my Mach 1. Anyone have any tips on finding one? I'm combing craigslist and Autotrader daily.

Wow. This is exactly the opposite of my experience.
When I'm looking, what I want are low mileage autos, but it seems like all I can EVER find in my area are low mileage manuals. All of the autos usually have tons of miles and were used as someone's daily driver for the last 10+ years. Perhaps this is because I live so close to such a huge city (Chicago) and a lot of the manual cars were kept as weekend toys since they can be a hassle in daily heavy traffic.
I guess this is how it works though; it's never as hard to find the cars that you DON'T want.

I did find one in texas I was going to buy. 98K miles, red M6 Ws6. was looking to fly down to look at and buy the car when a local one came up for sale. It was an auto however. I got such a great deal on it that I could not pass it up. Now sometimes I wish I would have.
Point being that you may have to travel for the right car. Or wait longer than you want to.

Yeah, a WS6 would be ideal, but I'd settle for a Formula. I don't like camaros as much, but I'd settle for an SS or a Z28 as well.
At least I'm not putting around in a Honda till I find what I want. My Mach 1 keeps me pretty entertained, but I'm tired of being told I can't get any decent power NA. I can't afford $6000 for the supercharger I want, and then I'd be at 450hp with a ticking time bomb on stock internals.

Well there aren't gonna be a whole hell of a lot of them out there in the configuration you want, with the miles you want, with the price you want. I'd be searching nationally if I were you. Just be prepared for a plane ride and a drive home. I almost flew to Chicago to pick one up (I'm in New York) but backed out at the last minute cuz of some shady details. I would have gone to Cali if I had to. They are older cars now so they are either kinda ratty high mile cars or cars that managed to stay fair weather cruisers, and that you're gonna pay for.

I guess so, just seems odd. Mustangs are a dime a dozen here. When I was looking for a Mach 1, I found one within a month of looking. When I was looking for a GT before that, it took me about a week. Were the production numbers on these really low or something?

Well, I widened my search a bit. I found a car that would fit the bill in St. Louis, 3 hours away. Man I don't want to drive that far. haha. What do you guys think? It's a 2000 Trans-Am WS6, 67k miles, for $12,500. Anyone in the area want to test drive it for me? haha

My Firehawk may be for sale very soon. Its a 2002 M6, just turned 48000 miles. Has ARH 1 7/8 with catted y-pipe, Fast 90/90, FTP 92mm lid with lower WS6 airbox and 85mm MAF. It also has A Strange S60 rear with 3.73 gears, UMI tunnel mount torque arm, Umi adjustable lower control arms, UMI adjusatble panhard rod and Strange 3" Chromoly driveshaft. When I get ready to sell it, I will probably let it go for $13,500. Almost forgot, it also has a Mcleod RXT clutch with their billet steel flywheel. All mods were done less than 2000 miles ago..

That's kinda the situation I'm in. I'm bout to get the Wifey a car and would rather sell it than trade it in because I will take a bigger loss. I may put a stock rear back on it though and just trade it off. I'm upgarding to a C6 grand sport this time next year.

Well I hope they accept. I still distinctly remember the first time I saw a Trans Am when I was 10 back in 98. It was a black WS6. I immediately exclaimed "what is that?!" to my grandpa. He said it was a very impractical unsafe car, and I should never get one, and we drove off in his lame little Camry. It's been on my list ever since, right next to the viper. haha
