Default 4th gen F body or GTO

Looking to buy another car here soon and I've been having mixed feelings. I loved my last T/A but I've been interested in a Goat. Seems like I need some input. Opinions and preferences?

do a search. also from what I've read from previous posts. it depends on your goals and what you want out of the car.

gto has a much nicer interior. probably rides better. but is a heavy son of a gun.

At least where I live, T/A's are much more rare than GTO's and Camaro's combined. Birds look meaner but GTO's are by far a better car in terms of daily drivability and practicality. Depends what you are going to use the car for.

Either car will be a street car. Just a bad *** street machine. No goal in mind other then to go fast and take it local car shows occasionally.

See if you can ride in someone's GTO or go test drive one, since you already know what a T/A is like.

I'd personally go for a Trans Am myself, the GTO just looks much too plain for my liking.

I've owned both

Had a 2000 z28 that got stolen then got a 05 goat. Both very nice cars , but now I'm back in a 2002 camaro

That's just me, but honestly do yourself a favor and go look at a 05-06 gto. They are very nice cars. One of the best seats/interior I have ever seen in a cheaper sports car.

Each has it's benefits,it's really gonna come down to your personal preference

A C5 is a little bit out of my price range. However, I have thought about getting a C5Z.

The closest GTO near me is at a Carmax about 2 hours away. If I'm driving 2 hrs, it's coming home with me. The one GTO I'd love to get my hands on is the Alpine White, LS3 TT setup that's for sale on the forum. Hard to come up with 24k though.

I would definitely go with the F-body for a fun street car/weekend car show cruiser type, IMO. I would also prefer the F-body for a daily driver. The self-destructing GTO seat sitching that I've seen on several examples has destroyed the whole "high quality interior" illusion to me. They have their problems just like any other car (suspension issues as well).

i love f-bodies. ive owned 3 so far. but my buddy has 06 goat. very nice car to ride in, and plenty fast. but he paid 16k for it. i paid 5, and its justas fun. if price were no issue i may take the gto, but if price were no issue, hell would also be froze over.

i have a little separation but my GTOs interior is far superior in comfort and quality to my SS. its not even close.

i dont think anyone is claiming GTOs are problem free. thats far from true. i know this from 8 yrs of owning one.

i enjoy both of my cars very much. my SS is for modding and occasional use and my GTO is my DD.

I know all the cons of f body's and some of the GTO such as the sagging rear springs and the stitching. The GTO looks good with the right appearance mods but F body's look good the way they came. One common issue that got on my nerves is all the random noises that pop out of the woodwork with my last T/A. Not a fan of how heavy the GTO is either. Still up in the air.

I have owned both and they are both great cars. My interior held up very well in the GTO, I didnt have an issue with the stitching. A negative for the goat is not being able to fit a decent rear tire under it and they all seem to be plagued with wheel hop. Camaro is a more driver oriented car for sure as far as feedback and all around rawness.

I recently installed sound deadener in my Bird and it vastly improved the ride quality. Quieter, no rattles, squeaks...etc. With the right suspension it will also ride close to if not better than a goat. So you can mod the F-bod to be more comfortable and drivable if that's what you want.

That's an excellent point. They can be rattle traps depending on conditions, I also dynamatted mine heavily, and a 6pt roll bar, and there are very few noises anymore, even the exhaust is muffled quite a bit, with windows up and tops in its a nice ride on the highway. Still stock susp and its decent. Some konis and springs and she'd be a dream.
