if you never get on your car you wont see the benefit , if you do whether from a stop , roll , anytime you mash it its in the powerband making full power immediately much more so than a gear swap , gears were always the way to go to get more power quickly but with current convertor technology the convertor can get you to the sweet spot much more quickly than gears without sacrificing your economy as much as gears low enough to make a major impact in acceleration will.

Ls1's aren't torque monsters at low rpm's , having come from modded 3800 supercharged cars it took me a bit also to understand why they didn't have the same type of instant tire shredding power a 4 door v6 FWD did a stall completely changes that.

Another example I used to be in the boat business selling ski and wakeboard boats (Malibu Brand) and we started offering the LS1 as an "upgrade" and in a wakeboard boat trying to get a fully loaded boat with full ballast tanks on plane (which happens around 3,000 rpm) the ls1 sucked compared to the old school 5.7/350 mpi "monsoon" we offered with approx. 50 less hp than the ls1 because the power comes in too late to be useful - these boats had direct drive transmissions a stall if it was possible would have made it the preferred engine instead of one I never recommended for that application.

If you could get a ride in another members stalled/bolt on car in your area you would get it.
