Default From 4th gen to 5th or C5 or C6 or GTO?

Any thoughts? I used to have a 2000 Trans Am WS6, had full exhaust, and I really loved the car, driving with the t-tops off was the best thing ever with the exhaust.

5th gen I think you can get one with a sunroof? I don't know if that will be enough for me to enjoy it like I did my old TA.

C5/C6 targa top would be as close to T tops as you can get and hen it's a corvette!

GTO I think sun roof as well.

Who has done this and what's the pros and cons. What do you prefer?

I did test drive a 5th gen Camaro SS, it had 16,000 miles on it and the clutch seemed like it grabbed higher on the pedal than my 4th gen did. Is that normal for 5th gens or was the clutch worn too fast from a bad driver?

I don't believe there was ever a sunroof option for the GTO.

I would pick the C5 or C6, whichever you can afford, if it's going to be a toy/2nd car.

For a daily driver the 5th gen Camaro might be better since it has more interior and trunk space.

I wouldn't pick the GTO for either purpose. I just don't care for the appearance, and it would also be the slowest option of that group (especially an '04 with the LS1).

Do I have to worry about scrapping the bumper on the ground going in and out of driveways with the corvettes?

When I test drove the Camaro one thig that really stood out was how bad it is to see when backing up, and the mirrors. But I do like the way it looks, drove well.

How much bigger are the new canaros over the 4th gens? It didn't seem too big.

Is there any slight changes/improvements from year to year 2010-13 Camaro? I actually don't like the 2014 front or rear.

no sunroof with GTOs. the ones on 5ths imo are almost as nice as TTOPS on 4th gens but easier to deal with.

there is blind spots on 5th gens but they have very big side view mirrors and a backing camera which i found to be very helpful.

C6 would be my choice for a second vehicle. id never DD a vette in buffalo winters lol.

What I pick for a car would be summers only.

Camaros have back up cameras? I think the one I drove was a 1SS no leather, so maybe thats why it didn't have one.

How much physically are they bigger than 4th gens?

5th gens feel a little large and awkward at first at least to me but i got used to it quickly.

i thought backup cameras are mandatory on newer cars but maybe not yet.

if it was me id get a loaded up 1le for a summer vehicle.

If I get a new Camaro I feel like I should wait til next year when they come out with the new one it will drive the prices down on the 5th gens.

The most I'm looking to spend is 25k.

So 1LE would be too much right now

It's a tough decision though because a used C6 is around the same price and probably drives so much better. But the C6's look a bit aged to me now, the Camaro doesn't yet.

An LS2 C6 vette should be quicker than a 2010 LS3 Camaro SS right?

A C6 with the LS3 / 6 speed combo is tough to beat. Ive seen a few in the $28K range.

Also did they make improvements in the later years for the C6 besides the LS3?

I agree with this. At first, I wasn't much of a fan of the 5th gen, but the changes made to the '14 model made me appreciate how much better the '10-'13 models look. The cosmetic updates were a step down IMO.

4th Gen (LS1) Camaro (L/W/H): 193.2"/74.1"/51.3"

5th gen Camaro (L/W/H): 190.4"/75.5"/54.2"

So the 4th gens are actually longer, but slightly narrower and noticeably less tall.

You're correct, there was no sunroof on the GTO. However, I love mine as a DD. It's like a more refined version of the Fbody. True, it's not as quick (yes mine is an '04), but it rides way smoother, has a much quieter cabin, way nicer interior, and a much larger back seat (a lot more than the sad excuse for rear seats that a 4th gen has). My Camaro is my toy, and I DD a GTO. Wouldn't have it any other way (except maybe a G8 GT or a '09+ CTS-V as a DD).

Quick Reply: From 4th gen to 5th or C5 or C6 or GTO?
