salvage yard LQ4 worth?
hey everyone,my first post here.
i went to the salvage yard today cause they said they had a 6L ls for $800. but it turns out it was wrong motor. guy thought i said 6 cylinder.oh well. he said he had lq4 at other location for $1500.
does that seem like a ok price if it has front accessories ,coils, and everything? im in the chicagoland area( south suburbs). i am planning to swap this in my 71 chevelle and running it carbureted. so i dont know if its worth it to get a full complete motor or get long block and source out all the other accessory brackets, coils, starter, etc?
thanks for any help!

I paid $1550 for my LQ4 with 97k miles. Guaranteed running pull-out. Complete from intake to oil pan.
I'd find a long block and throw that in there. You can make some money back selling off the little things, but you're gonna sit on them for a while. It took me forever to sell the truck pan, water pump...and I still have the intake manifold sitting in my garage. lol

If there is an lkq salvage near you.http://www.lkqpickyourpart.com/locat...o-581/recents/
50% off on holidays. I picked up a 2003 lq4 for $300. Looks like there are 3 in your area.

remember stuff is only worth what you pay for it, i called around local for a motor, got prices from 400-2000 depending on mileage and year and ended up buying a whole truck for less and got a 4l80e trans with all harnesses, plus i got the money for the scrap weight of what was left if you have the space id buy a whole truck or one already parted somewhat then anything else you remove and sell will help your build and or lower your engine price
