IMO those were two 'well bought' cars at BJ. Not every car they auction is top $$$. Same with Mecum too but many cars there have 'reserves'.
I also believe prices are up overall with fluctuations mostly seen in the astronomically high priced examples. It's tough to judge all collector cars by what these 6 figure cars sell for. I find it is almost next to impossible to find a decent collector car for cheap. If you do, you'll be putting good money into it real quick. I'm going through this now with a car I just bought. Bought it for under $10k but already have $17k into it. That's just the way it is if you want a nice show or cruise car.
Thumbing through Hemmings each month indicates it is very tough to buy a quality show car for under $20k. That's why these examples shown by the OP seem like very good purchases to me. Thanks for sharing.
