Default Ls6 Intake Questions

Hey guys! I have a 99 T/A Formula, it's a Ws6 clone. One of the first upgrades I've always been told is to upgrade to the Ls6 intake mani. The car is already tuned and geared btw. I plan to do the intake, headers, and gentle cam it (eventually). Anyway, while searching the web I came across this intake.

I noticed that in a lot of the instructional videos, you have to chisel or grind down the square lips on the bottom side of the Ls6 intake for it to fit a Ls1 car. 1) Is this true? 2) If so, could I just use the one linked above and not worry about it? thanks!

edit: I know they're a lot of post containing Ls6 intake mani upgrade, but not just quite the information I was looking for.

This thread will tell you all you need to know about the Dorman Intake. https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...5-900-a-7.html You'll need the crossover tube with it, whereas with a stock LS6 you can whack or grind off the ribs. An advantage of the Dorman is that it has EGR capability if you need that for smog inspections.

What exactly is the crossover tube? And which route do you think would be better, dorman or an intake off an 01-02 car? I plan to do intake and headers at the same time, but the cam won't be till down the road. Broke college kid.

The coolant crossover tube just allows coolant in the heads to be routed back to the radiator. The ls6 system kit you would need is this, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Corvette-Cam...-/320698877690

as I said in the other thread I prefer the dorman. Finding an ls6 intake these days for under 400 isnt easy. The dorman will make a little more power with a tad bit of porting before installation which is very easy and in the end you get a brand new intake vs one that is 12-15 years old

This intake has been getting a lot of posts lately, looks like finally an inexpensive option to the Fast that can benefit from some porting. Id love to see one dyno'd w/ a Mamo port.
