Check on www.ls1gto.com. Tons of LS2 cars there since the majority of GTOs were LS2 cars.

So I started knocking Down the wedge on mine and went to knock down an blend in one of the ones that is by the bungs on the roof that has the wedge face pointing inside an when doing so I hit a orange piece, thought it was maybe a gasket but was pretty hard and the 2 spots where the halfs meet started opening up so stopped for now..anyone who has worked on this area run into this yet..you can see it in this pic

I'll still need the coolant crossover kit for my 98 z with this manifold, correct?
I'm thinking I'd be better off finding a used ls6 for around $350. I'd end up spending the same for the dorman and crossover pipe.

you're going to need the crossover tube for the ls6 as well. Everything you need for the ls6 you will need for the dorman. But if you massage the dorman like others have done you will gain more power. The dorman also requires replacing the valley cover bolts but those are included in the box with the intake

I thought I could chisel the bottom ribs of the ls6 to get it to work on my stock coolant pipes...the dorman manifold isn't configured the same way

you could do that but its not really recommended because you can crack the intake. new block offs arent expensive anyway. you may have harder time finding a used ls6 for 350 than you think. the dorman is also based off of a fast 90 which is a much better intake than the ls6 which is why if you take a small bit of time to clean it up it will outperform the ls6

The cross over isn't a issue..remember 01-02 cars ended up with ls6 intakes and had the back ports blocked off..this is the route I took for my setup seeing I had that setup sitting on my shelf from my lq9 motor..you how ever can do what many used to do when they ran the f.a.s.t deals and just flatten the cross over tube..plenty of how tos on here for that mod if you choose that route instead...I've talked to Kurt urban before about cross covers an was told on a stock deal with basic bolt on,cam/head mods it shouldn't be a issue at all..

I feel my intake will make more power then a ls6..when you see the wedges in the ports and the tb opening you will understand if it made 5hp less on a 550hp motor then a ls6 in stock form then once you clean it up to how it should be you will understand why I say this..I wish I would of measured the max wedge size but it had to be around 1/4 an it sloped from that at the top to nothing which was prob 1.5" total an 2 ports had that twice in them so this makes for a big obstruction not to mention what it caused air to do right before it hit the head ports..

I paid 25$ for the 500 grit and a mix pack of 50 cartridge rolls from harbor freight an had around 4hrs probably porting it and I won't even lie the night I finished it I used a cordless drill to do half the work seeing it was 2am an I didn't want to wake my neighbors up with my compressor constantly going an I wanted to get it done...its really a easy job, don't stay in one spot, take your time and feel the port with your fingers, have a good light source..

So I take it that the stock crossover definitely isn't going to work then. Everybody says they can just grind the fins off the GM LS6 intake and use it but the Dorman seems to be lacking the fins already.

I believe so. The dorman has a bottom similar to a FAST intake. No ridges on the bottom to chisel.

Separate question: I need to remove the ridges in the intake runners and widen the throttle body opening when porting the dorman intake, correct? Anything else? I've got a ported Potz Speed TB and Powerbond UD on the way as well. I should see a nice power bump with those.

heres the mod that you would need to do to get a 4 port steam setup to work..like i said though gm did away with them an 01-02 f bodys had the rears blocked an only the fronts working..

thats all thats to it..will be a total of 10 wedges that need to be shaved and blended..the tb port just need a good bit of sanding because its only like 73mm vs 78mm..i went to my pots tb was flush all away around.

bottom of the intake is up in these pics an the one i posted before..the double wedge port..ones on the floor facing out and then the other is on roof facing in on the intake runners.

one on the floor that i was almost done blending with..this is the wedge that faces towards the heads
