Best Oil, cheap mods and HP guesses
Okay so I bought another TA and I'm back in the game. She's in the garage for winter, so this is when I'll have time to tinker. It's a 99, 6 speed, has 98K on it.
Oil change time: should I go synthetic or conventional. I have no idea what's in it now. I did buy 6 quarts of Valvoline synthetic blend 5w30, but I could use it in my 05 Maxima which I don't care about that much. I've read that Royal Purple is good. I've seen a lot of people who say no synthetic and a lot that say synthetic is the cat's **** and it's a must. Thoughts?
Also, mods thus far- factory Hurst shifter, SLP lid, smooth bellow, Magnaflow cat back, strut bar... PO (an older lady who never really used it) had a performance clutch put in it. That's it for now. Guesses to HP/TQ? What are some other affordable mods or cheap HP?

Runs like a top. Has no rust underneath either. I bought it from an older lady that lives near me. She had it in her driveway, not for sale. I stopped by and said I'd buy it 3 years ago, but she wasn't ready to sell. Then I stopped by a few months ago and said "remember me?". Long story short I talked her into selling it since she never drove it, paid $3500 for it. I was an Arizona car. (So the dash is cracked) Its never been driven in rain or snow It came with stock 16" wheels with new tires and 18" chrome c5 Z06 wheels that need tires. It makes great power as is, but I've got the itch. It was unmolested other than a new clutch when i bought it. I changed out the radio for a touch screen and put in new sail panel subs too, plus one window motor... No leaks, doesn't burn oil... I've only put about 700 miles on it.

I was definitely planning on an ls6 intake. Hadn't even thought of UDP... Eventually I was going to probably do a mail order tune once I get some more mods done. Full exhaust is definitely on the menu.

After headers and exhaust, getting a tune is definitely a must.
Congrats on the purchase!!

Royal Purple is overpriced. The valvoline max life synthetic blend is really good stuff, especially for the price. The only 5w30's readily available that have better wear protection are Mobil 1 advanced full synthetic and Quaker state ultimate, both dexos 1 approved. Once you add headers you can run VR1 conventional if your into cheap, great, oil with zinc in it. It has to much for cats. The amsoil signature series is great too, the wear isnt quite as high as mobil and penzoil, but it has a bit more zinc and phos with a good bit more moly. And you can get the amsoil in 0w40 or 5w50 if you want to beat on it
