Current 5.0 owner considering converting to LSX
Hello all,
Long story short, I was planning to keep my 2011 5.0 for a while. I like ICE cars like the mustang and camaro/vette etc..and was going to make it a goal to beef it up without a power adder to at least match tesla's 0-60 (the suv can do it in 2.x now RRRRRR) - that I cant stand so much. But after some research I realized prolly the best I could get off the line is a 3.3sec 0-60/11.5qm, when the fast teslas can do 2.5/10.5. In my o, the LSx eng is a better candidate with the low end grunt it has. Plus I always like the pushrods..What in your opinions would be a good Camaro model that wont break the bank and maybe what mods to attempt to accomplish? I was thinking 2013 and up.. lots of potential in these cars.. oh, yea and for some ammunition.. heres what I had read on one of these bragging tesla forums recently, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO:
So I am 2 lanes from the right lane which alone leads to the right ramp in pole position, waiting to do my favorite burn out across 3 lanes, which is my patented driving behavior here on some days. Today, the Camaro shows up with a tattooed young gun in the lane to my right. So I know, that he too, must accelerate very fast, in order to cut in front of the car to the right of his lane. So I chuckle, and wait for the green light. I floor it, leave him one car behind trying desperately to catch up, swing prodigiously to the right, take the sweeping on ramp like a bat out of hell, slow down purposely, he catches up in the lane next to me, and I floor it again, and watch him try to catch up! I had made my point by then, and immediately coasted at 70, while the thoroughly (unmistakably) pissed off driver tries to egg me on for a interstate speed race. Hah!
The entry level Tesla family hauler vs the cream of American muscle. :-)
Thanks Elon, you made my day.

My 60 can outrun a brand new Camaro SS
Submitted by somedude on August 26, 2013 I don't know what's with the 237 on ramp from Lawrence. I have had 3 drag races. One with an older M3, another with a friendly Tesla Roadster, and today, an orange, brand new Camaro SS (4.4 0-60 according to the web).So I am 2 lanes from the right lane which alone leads to the right ramp in pole position, waiting to do my favorite burn out across 3 lanes, which is my patented driving behavior here on some days. Besides, that article is just internet bragging and mostly BS. The new SS does 0-60 in 4.0 flat and the Tesla 60 does it in 5.5 (RWD) or 5.2 (AWD). Even your Mustang does it in 4.6 and can get down to 4.2 with just the optional 3.73 gears. So either the Tesla driver just caught the Camaro driver off guard or he's lying through his teeth. The Tesla Model X which can run 0-60 in 2.7 costs $99,000 so why would you even worry about that? If that's your benchmark, why not aim for the Challenger Demon at $85,000 (0-60 in 2.1)?
