And the block casting number is on the rear of the block, above the bell housing, on the driver's side, and is a bugger to look for with the engine still in the car the way these engines are stuffed under the firewall. I suppose with the car up on a lift and a mirror or cell phone you can get a look at it from underneath. To much trouble for me, I have never looked for it.
And as Mavn says, it really doesn't mean much, a little bit better oiling between cylinders or something. There have been several threads here about it. Up to 25% of the final couple of years has the LS6 block.

In 17 years of owning my '02 I have never seen a straight answer to this question.
Yup, my 2002 has an LS6 block.
If you want to know look at the back of the block there's a casting number there.
