2002 Camaro with check gauges issues.
My 2002 Camaro is having issues with the car stalling out and jack rabbiting. When these two things happen, independent of one another, the check gauges light comes on. When this happens my Camaro has a full tank of gas.
What could possibly be the problem?

Full tank of gas and check gauges should not be related but….
you say full tank of gas - how full?? —to the top of the filler neck??
Do you continue to add gas after the pump shuts off??
you may have flooded your EVAP system if you over fill the tank or maybe your gas cap is loose or bad.

Thank you !!
I place the pump in until it pops out. I never continue to pump after it has popped out.
I am going to order a new gas cap today.
Thank you for your help.

"Check gauges" isn't just to indicate a low fuel condition, it could be any number of gauges showing a reading out of spec. How do your temp, voltage, and oil pressure gauges look when this light comes on?

One other thing. How low did you let your fuel get before filling up? I will always remember a trip to FL in our T/A when I let the gas get way too low on the interstate. When I pulled into a gas station with the car doing exactly what you said, especially severe hesitation, I figured it would be corrected when I fueled up. NO, this condition continued for over 20 miles. The next day i went to a Chevy dealer who told me that water condensation from the tank entered the fuel system. A can of HEET and another fuel system cleaner was added and within 10 miles the car was running perfect again. I also changed the fuel filter to get any crud out of there that might have been sucked in.
I'm hoping your issue is a simple as mine. If you are guilty of letting your gas level get too low, like me, always try to keep 1/4 tank in your car. I also religiously add HEET into my tank every 4th month to get rid of condensation. It's very inexpensive at Walmart or a parts store. Other similar products probably deliver the same results. I've never had the situation repeat again in any car. Good luck with your Camaro.

Thank you Tech Junkie!!
I will go to Advance Auto this morning and get some HEET and add it to my Camaro 's gas tank.
Right before I filled up the last time my Camaro was on about 1/4 of a tank.
I have always tried not to let him get too low. But with the price of gas lately that is not always possible.
Got the new GM/Chevrolet gas cap installed yesterday.
Thank you ever so much for all of your help.
Hope that you have a terrific Weekend!!!

Replace the fuel filter. Do you know how long it has been since it was last replaced? Should be done every couple of years. It is on the frame rail under the car and is fairly easy to do. A couple of wrenches to unscrew one end and the other end has a plastic clip. You will get gas all over yourself but look it up, easy to do. Things like HEET may give you a little more time but it you have had the car for a couple years and haven't changed the fuel filter, it needs to be done.
Then you can move on to the possibility that is is the fuel pump. That is more complicated but still doable.

^^^ I stress that as well.except let the local mechanic do it if you have a reasonable guy nearby. The best $50 you will spend not dealing with gas stink and the accompanying leak from the old. Every time i watch my mechanic do this (it only takes a few minutes) I feel the same way.
