Default LQ4 rpm advice?

Hey all. Ive read a few posts relating to max rpm on the gen 3 motors but nothing that is really related to my needs. Seems to be the stock rod hardware isnt that great (tty &#128580. The motor is gonna be in a sled pulling truck, so no shifting required as it stays in 1st gear the whole run. One run lasts about 30 seconds, however the motors gonna be held at wide open throttle the entire duration of the run. Other than that, it will idle around the pits.

The motor hasnt been dyno'd yet but its a STOCK lq4 with a BTR Stage 3 truck cam, comp springs/retainers/locks, gen 4 intake/injectors. The cam seems to make peak power at 6500rpm ish (richard holdener dyno runs) The motor has about 140,000 miles (225,000KM) on it and since everyone seems to have their own definition of stock, i mean the bottom end is unopened and original (assuming its never been touched before me).

thanks!

Same sort of setup? Original bolts and bearings? Not "oem" i mean like legit never touched high mileage.

Same here.....

I think the "weak" bottom end myth of the gen 3 is blown way out of proportion.

I shift mine at 7300 constantly including a road course event were it will see that rpm a couple hundred times in a two day event alone

agree with above posts, i think the rod bolt is more of a problem with some boost or nitrous use. na 6800 wouldnt scare me.

Is the rod bolt issue only a problem with boost because of the addes strain? I wasnt sure if it was simply the RPM that caused it.

Did you get a melling oil pump? Ive been looking at one but wasnt sure. Ive read a bit about the cavitation but there dosent seem to be alot about it relating to rpm.

no, I never touched anything other than the cam and valve springs, and used 243 heads. I didnt even pull the oil pan because the engine out of the box truck already had a Fbody pan on it.
