Hello everyone, so I recently bought a 5.3 vortec that also came with a texas speed standalone harness. Was wondering if it even works for this engine. Says its for 99-06. From what I can tell the casting number near the waterpump is F199, does that mean its 99 or 09?

Cam position sensor is behind the intake up to 2006 and 2007 and also have knock sensors under the intake.
A 2009 would have the cam sensor in the timing cover. And oil towers under the valley cover and knock sensors on the sides.
Reluctor wheels can be swapped to use a different computer system so thats not a sure ID.
Casting numbers aren't what they used to be in the 70's and 80's but you can look around here https://help.summitracing.com/knowle...SR-04755/en-us

On the front and back of the block, it's going to have a cast in 4.8/5.3 designation. How to tell which one you have? Pull the pan and check the casting numbers on the crank/rods. Or send a borescope down a spark plug hole and see if you have dished pistons. 5.3's had dished ( except for HO models ) and 4.8's had flat tops.
