2004 truck motor, harness, pcm in 1999 truck
Hello guys I'm new to this form. This is my first post. Hoping I can get some answers because I have found nothing in this topic.
I have a 2004 extended cab work truck Chevy Silverado that i've taken the motor out of. When I say motor, I mean harness, pcm, fuse box the whole nine.
I have a 1999 single cab step side im hoping to put it in. Both trucks are 5.3l 4wd with 4l60e's.
Although the engine harness is garbage in the 99 and the fuse box's have different configurations over the years so im assuming I can't just plug the 05 engine harness right into the 99 fuse block without tuning or maybe even re wiring.
I know they have various differences like
05
Floor Manual Transfer 4x4
Drive by wire intake
58tooth reluctor wheel
Manual Windows
1999
electronic dash transfer 4x4
drive by cable intake
28tooth reluctor wheel
electronic windows
.
my question is I want to plug the 05 engine and harness into the 99 fuse box so I can use all of the other stuff on the 99 truck that the 05 didn't have. What PCM do I send off? What fuse block do I use. Is this even possible please help?

Yeah, not aware of any GMT 800 with 58x reluctor wheel; those started on the GMT 900 AFAIK.
A complete wiring harness and matching ECU from the 99-02 generation is the best bet. The 99-02 wiring and electronics are different than 03 and up...
I learned the hard way on my 99 Silverado. I did a V6 to L59 swap (donor vehicle was a 2004 Yukon XL, which I got with wiring harness and ECU). I had to source a wiring harness and ECU from the junkyard. I got one from a 2000 Silverado and everything worked.

update
thanks for the input guys I may have been doing a little overthinking . I concluded the motor that Im using does have 24 tooth reluctor wheel in it. I went ahead and got another 02 harness and everything seems to be going great so far. Thanks for the help!
