Default Opinions on adding power and reliability 2009 H3 Alpha

I've got a new to me 2009 Hummer H3 Alpha with the 5.3l V8 LH8 engine. Only 76k miles on it.

Goals= 400+ HP maybe up to 500, and enhanced reliability.

The motor sounds really healthy. No odd noises at all.

I've been looking at L92(no AFM or DOD whatever) engines from 2007-2008 Escalades that I could rebuild.

Or keep 5.3l and add an LSA supercharger.

Or swap in a rebuilt L92 and add LSA supercharger and upgrade transmission. (4L60e)

I will be keeping this thing for the rest of my life hopefully.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Get rid of the DOD if it has it, and add a mild cam and supercharger. That's the easiest way to meet your power goals.

I think a supercharger and stock everything else would be the way to go if he’s looking for 400 horsepower to do truck type things with. If he did a cam wouldn’t he probably need a new torque converter too? What’s better for a heavy 4x4 the stock stall or a higher stall? I’m no expert but in my minds eye it seems like the lower stall would be more ideal for four wheel drive activities and or towing.

LSA the stock 5.3, good fuel and tune, you will love that setup and the TQ. If you keep it close to 350RWHP a good 4L60 will last a little while, but I would start collecting parts for a 4L80 swap if your gonna be pushing it much more than that, especially if you do add a cam and raise the shift points.

Keep in mind you will lose some acceleration mostly noticeable from a dig with a 80e from the weight and 1st gear ratio is taller. But with a 80E you could up the boost to make up for it lol.

The cam has to be replaced anyway to do a DOD delete, and you could go stock, but adding a very mild cam can be done without needing a torque converter upgrade. In a supercharged application such as this, even installing a better factory cam ( LS3 or LS9 ) would pick up a lot.

Ls3 or 9 cam would want to be shifted around 6300-6500 bye bye 4l60e lol... and those cams will loose tons of low end torque i know a LSAsuperchager would certainly make it back up, but no mater how you look at it those are not good choices for a truck.
I do agree a very mild truck cam around 210 or so intake duration would be definitely be good and if your having to replace it then why not.....

I wonder if he’s going to be drag racing or climbing steep hills with this thing? If he’s doing mainly truck type things he’ll want power at 3k RPM instead of 6,500. I realize this is probably a street car and he doesn’t want it to be a dog up top but realistically I think it’s heavy azz would be better served with a 3k-5k some odd rpm power band and the 4l60e’s low first gear. I know most people probably go to a lower rear end gear (higher numerically) when they swap to a 4l80 but I think since his is all wheel drive he’d have to change both the front and rear gear set, so it’d be just that much more money.
