Default Priming thru the block off plug

I know it’s a common question, but I’m not seeing the right answers. I have a GenIV 5.3 that I’ve kept intact on the bottom, and replaced the pan, did a dod/afm delete using a plate, and swapped out the cam and lifters with non-AFM stuff. The pan is 7qts.
i removed the block off plug and put a replacement fitting there and pressurized 5 qts of oil into the engine using a regulator set to 15 psi.
oil made it to about half of the rockers maybe more, but never made it to others. I only rotated the engine maybe one revolution by hand. I added another 1.5 qts, but still no oil to these rockers.
now the pan is full.
what now? Do you drain the oil into a clean catch can and repeat this process until you see oil on every rocker while rotating or leave it where it’s at?
Im the constant worrier and wondering if something is wrong with the block off plate not sealing the AFM oiling holes.

You have to rotate the engine to get oil to the other rockers.

Why prime it? Prefill the filter with oil and fire it. GM built millions of these engines…never primed the first one.

If a LS sits for a while the stock oil pump can loose prime and trying to start it will not spin it fast enough to prime. The LS3’s are the worst

Default Oil on rear rockers

Mad Mike as long as you prime the pump with that many quarts start it with the valve covers in place so you don’t blow oil everywhere. Put some oil on them before you put the valve covers on so they’re not dry. If you don’t have oil pressure in like 5 seconds shut it off but it will be fine. Once you have oil pressure let it run for about 10 seconds then pull the valve covers to make all the rockers have oil on them

If it sits a while, sure. But on a new build it’s a waste of time.

especially on a new rebuild, there won’t be any oil in the oil pump. You need to prime it filling the oil filter won’t work. The filter is lower than the pump and just cranking it over. Will not spin the oil pump fast enough to suck the oil up you need to prime the pump. The factory does it before they start the engine and drive it out of the factory.

that should’ve worked as a video about it. Same way you did it basically maybe you gotta rotate the engine more..
