Found this broken bolt with a free spinning flange nut under my 01 Trans Am. Any idea what it could go to? I spent hours under my car searching and no luck. Didn’t see any issues with suspension components. Shocks, panhard bar, control arms etc.
It’s a unique nut. 19mm hex. Anyone familiar with where GM used these on F Body’s? Found a similar example on eBay. See pics. The transmission was swapped by previous owner. Transmission related?
Part of the bolt attached. Found in the garage like this where I park my car. Midway underneath. Transmission mount related? It’s very unique and attached swivel washer on it. Example of type of nut. Mine is 19mm hex Another example
I found some bolts on the floor of my garage recently too and couldn't figure it out until i realized the garage door was making strange noises. Two bolts had worked their way free and went under the cars. Anyway, double check your garage door mechanism if you have something like that. It may not be car related.

That's one of the Nuts that goes on one of the Bolts that secures the K-Member on the front Subframe. Gravity is keeping it there as well as the other 5 at the moment, 6 in total. What makes me wonder is how that snapped, that's a large Bolt..
Could be one that goes on the Lower Control Arm also, they are the same size if I remember right, it's been a while.

I always keep a few broken bolts, dinged or gouged hexnuts, and the odd torn O-ring in my jacket pocket-
....Try and toss at least one under a friends PARKED rig whenever possible.
Keeps 'em paying attention, and really the resulting inspection process is doinng them a FAVOR, they might catch something important, before it fails.

I would never suggest putting a broken bolt under any car; if the head is still attached then someone may eventually get a flat tire from parking there. In fact, every time I see any kind of a potential tire puncture object on a street or driveway or parking lot, I remove it to save someone (possibly myself) the nasty hassle of a flat tire.
