Spent about $8,000 dollars on my mods. I would like to get rid of my shorty headers for long tubes plus get a bigger cam. Shooting for 450 rwhp. By than I probably need a beefer clutch and so on it seems like it never stops.........but that is the fun of it

I understand.

But, like I said, there's a HUGE difference between $1 and $10,000 in mods.

For those who've spent $5k plus, that's quite a bit in mods.

I'd say $1-1k, 1-5, 5-10, 10-20, 20+ would tell us a bit more about the people on the forum.

The thread seems targeted only at the BIG spenders.

Well, my first set of mods came up to alittle under 10k. The addition mods is up to a total of 28.5k. My future purchases will be another 20k. That will my car ready for drags, handling, and braking with safety and full reliability on all the parts. I want to be sure that I am not the only one spending this kind of cash to get my car the way I want it. I hate to put a big motor in and then the tranny or rearend breaks. I hate to have a lot of speed without the ability to stop quick enough. I don't want the suspension twisting or breaking under the heavy loads. I don't want the motor throwing a rod in 3 months because they were cheap. I want all the safety equipment required for running the intended laptimes and trap speeds. I also want to drive this car on the street. I am asking a lot out of this car so I have to put some into it. As you can see, over half of the voters so far are under 10k, which is good. I have only owned my car since 2001. Some guys has had their since 1998. If they mod right away, then it adds up over the years. So my ranges are fine they way they are.

I hope to never go over $10,000 give or take 1,000. Hopefully that can get me into the 10's. Spending anymore just takes some of the fun out of it....becomes more like a job.

I had a 2001 Firehawk and I had $30k in receipts when it was sold.
My 2002 C5 had $14k in receipts

The 00 Z I'm building to rave already has $15k into it for just the cage/suspension --no driveline yet
