I went 85-90 on the highway once. I've been over 90 in a 1980 Corvette on back country roads (not sure the exact number because the speedo stops at 85 and it doesn't have the original engine in it so the speedo is off).

Me and a buddy went 155+ I assume. It was holding steady at about 6000rpms, then i let off. **** starts to get too unstable at those speeds, floating and what not. Have DR's on the back probably didnt help. I think those are rated below 160.

when i had mine up to 140, of course it felt like i was going fast, but i had just put on some yokahoma 40/275 tires on it with 17/9.5 inch rims, and while i was at that speed, i actually went through a little turn on the highway and it stuck pretty good, now i wouldnt want to do that everyday, but i was very surprised at how stable the car was at that speed. and on a side note: i use to own a 1989 RS that had the 305 v8 in it. it of course had the 2.73 gear in it. i found a way to bypass the speed gov. on it, and floored it for a good two miles and got it up to about 135. the speedo only goes up to 115, but the vette i was raceing said that, that was how fast we were going

Well been 155 plus in my old t-top 98 Z28 and I did 142 in my SS vert with the top down racing a M3. Talk about making my legs shake. I'll never do that again especially since I have kids now. Oh and I beat the M3

157-ish before I ran out of road and had to stop for an intersection. It was one of the few times I actually tried going that fast, and the LAST time I did it. Don't really have any reason to try that again, so I'd just assume not push my luck.

Done it once as well and at that speed a thought passed through my mind. I went from.....this is FAST...holy crap this is fun.....to....if one of my tires would blow or a deer would run out in front of me at this speed my life would be over....I have a wife who loves me and friends and family that would be without me in this world.....is this worth it? So next time you feel the need to push it. Think about what you are doing and if it is worth your LIFE. **** does and will happen.

Sorry if I ruined your thread.

145 a few times. It's a lot scarier afterward than when you're actually doing it. I don't care too much for doing top speed runs with the roads in my area. I just like getting through 4th gear very quickly every now and then.

Like others have said. There arn't very many open roads to build up speed around here. But I've had my SS a bit over 140, a friend of mine with a Z28 got his up to 155, he said. And I'm pretty sure both Z28 and SS back off at 162. Think so anyway.

i thought the v8 fbody's are actually going faster than what the speedo says after about 140. online buddy of mine, who's got a STOCK z28, said that when the speedo read 147, he was actually going 160?

my A4 z28 has 3.73's so its been to 13Xmph, I've HAD the old lady's mustang between 165 and 175. I dont know ford ****, so i dont have a clue what gear is in it, but that was a 1 time thing. it's not too bad while you are doing it, but when you slow down and realize what you just did, it's scary.

I think he means he is going to have a hard time talking his way out of it!!!!!!!!!

Good LUck to you.... I've been to traffic court a few times... I mostly and normally got out of mine with traffic school.... but I've never been busted at that kind of speed.

Btw, the fastest I have ever driven(and thank god I did't get caught) is about 135ish.... and I still had pleanty of pedal left!!!! I'll admit.... I chickened out.... Maybe I'm just not use driving at those kind of speeds but the road started to look like it was being shot out of a cannon.
