Do you Regret Getting/Not Getting T-tops??

My T tops leaked when I first got the car but a simple adjustment fixed that!
I will admit that T tops make the car VERY VERY HOT in the summer and it is easy as cake to unlock a T top car STILL I wouldn't have it any other way. This is a sports car. It is made to hav fun in. I love my T tops. The sun is my friend and the deep tint in t tops has never caused my skin to burn as previously stated.

if your t tops make it too hot in the car, get some shades. i spent 20 bucks, and made my own. they don't look ghetto. i just have to cover them with some headliner material. i'll post some pics later tonight.

definately t-tops
I just got a 2001 SS with t-tops and I absolutely loved it. Then it rained! I got a small leak which hit my left elbow while I was driving. That's when it sucked to drive in the rain with my t-tops. I would always have to leave towels where the small but annoying leak was. Then I drove it on a hot (dry) day without the t-tops and I almost splooged my pants it was frikn awesome.
overall I would definitely buy a t-tops 4th gen again if I had the chance.

Don't they come with shades? Also, having a t-top and 'vert 4th gen is just too awesome-gotta have both. Hard top? Ew...

Just to beat a dead horse, T-Tops all the way!! I first had a 93 formula without t-tops and I drooled at every fbody i would pass in the summer that had their t-tops off lol. Now I have a 98 TA WITH t-tops and LOVE it! Sure it isn't as rare as a hardtop but I don't care, they are great in the summer and are fast to take off and put back on. I would never buy another one without them.

Got my first ride in a buddy's '85 z28 in 1990 or so and that was it! I knew that an F bod was in my future - with T's only. Bought an '84 H.O with T's and didn't look back until I ordered my 02 with T's new from GM! I can't remember how many times I've driven with them ON!!!

I do not like T-tops and I therefore do not like the fact that GM made all LS1 T/A's and waaaaay too many LS1 Camaros with them.
They add weight and take away structural integrity. Therefore to a hardcore performance enthusiast, they are a liability.
Also, sometimes they leak. I also have a negative image of them. Kids like to remove them and cruise around "look at me". Yeah, look at them: They couldn't afford a convertible and are not serious enough about performance to get a hardtop. They are stuck with a compromise.
Two of my Camaros have t-tops and I would be fine if they didn't. I bother to remove them about 2-3 times a year.
I did not read any of this monster thread before replying. So if I re-cover old ground... I don't care.

i don't regret not getting t-tops.
however... with the convertible it feels like the rear window is about to get sucked out above 140mph. with the top down at those speeds, it is fantastic except for the hearing loss. and the convertible top shows its age. then again, replacement is (relatively) cheap.

Originally I hated T-tops, targas, and verts. I thought they were dumb looking and for old people. I still think the same about verts but my Z has T-tops and I love em, I take em off every chance I get. First day it was sunny and 55f here in wyoming I took em off and had the heater blasting haha.

the only problem i had was i let my brother put on the passenger side top one time and he didn't latch it down properly so at 50 miles/hr it came off in traffic and shattered into a thousand pieces.

I LOVE my t-tops!!
I had two previous f-bodies that were hardtops, a GTA and a '98 Formula, and while I loved both of those cars, I always felt a twinge of envy everytime I saw another f-bod with the tops off.
When I started looking for my current car, t-tops were a must, that was non-negotiable. Sometimes I wish I had ended up with a M6, but I LOVE the T's, no question about it.
And I'd take my '00 A4 T-Tops over my '98 M6 Hardtop in a second, I wouldn't even think about it.
On a nice spring day or clear summer evening, there's nothing better than taking the tops off and going for a cruise. And the girls really seem to like it too, haha.
And like someone else said, they really make the car feel more airy. Otherwise these can seem a bit claustrophobic inside. And even in the winter, it's just really nice to be able to look up and see the stars.
And no, no leaks or any issues from them.

I bought my car new back in 2001, and specifically wanted a hardtop. At that time most dealers in my area had few Camaros in their inventory, (SUV's were all the rage), and the V-8 F-bodies the dealers did have all had T-Tops. I remember searching dealer inventories on the GM web-site, and found a store in Houston that had 50 Camaros in their inventory. Of the 50 Camaros at this Houston dealership 30 were V-6's, and 20 were V-8 cars. Of the 20 V-8 cars only 2 were hardtops, and both of those were automatics (I wanted an M6).
Long story short, my car was a dealer transfer from over 400 miles away. Since then I have seen quite a few hardtops in my area, but the majority are T-Top models.
