I drive mine all the time. Why have it if it just stays in the garage collecting dust.

Easy.

I want the car to stay perfect....forever; or at least for many decades. That way, when I do take it out, it's something special. Simply put, the car won't stay in show condition for 20-30+ years if you drive it everyday. Period.

On the other hand, as I've stated, I also have the desire to drive one of these cars almost daily (no point in the winter though here in the upper midwest) just like you. But I'll be buying an additional F-body for that; one with higher miles and not so rediculously clean.

Both myself and the previous owner of my Z28 have spent too much time and effort keeping the car spotless to mess that up now. Not like they build F-bodies anymore, can't just go get a new one whenever you want.

If they get the most pleasure out of having a low mile, perfect condition car they can look at in the garage, who are you to tell them they shouldn't have it.

10,000 mile garage queen > 100,000 mile beat up daily driver.

Spoken like someone who only has one car.

I'm guesing you're pretty young too. I love my Z but I'm not about to spend everyday in traffic with a stick. Not my idea of fun. I also want my Z to last as long as possible. I spend more time working on it, washing and waxing it then I ever do driving it. I take mine out wheh I'm in the mood and want to have some extra fun on a nice sunny day. I'd kill myself if I had to drive my Z everyday. I like a big comfortable truck with an automatic to use as my daily driver. Maybe when I was 22 I would have liked to have a car like my Z to use everyday (I had a 90 Mustang LX but even that was an auto) but as I have aged I like more comfort in my everyday vehicle and the Z is not what I would call comfortable. To each his own.

May car sits in a garage under a car cover so it is NEVER dusty. Mine will also be around long after you have probably trashed yours.

I fail to see why you guys who daily drive your fbody have to make comments about those of us who don't. Grow up for christ's sake. You don't see us guys who don't daily drive our fbody's asking you how you can drive your car everyday destroying it do you?

In seeing that most people will want the SS's or Red Aniversaries I say hell just drive the thing. It's too much fun not to!

Who cares what it's worth. It's not about the money in my case. If I wanted an investment, I never would have bought a car. 9 times out of 10, a car will NEVER be worth more to sell than what you've spent to buy and maintain it.

The point is, if you daily drive the car it will not stay nice in the long term. I don't care how well you take care of it. When I say long term, I'm talking decades, not 5-10 years.

30 years from now, I'd like to still be able to pull my mint condition Z28 out of the garage for a sunny day drive and have it look and drive every bit as perfect as it did back in '98. I meet other people at car shows that have 35+ year old muscle cars that they've owned since new or nearly new and that is exactly what they've been doing with those cars for decades now; and I plan to follow that same path.

Every time I drive the car it's a special experiance, because I don't do it every day. That makes it even more fun, IMO.

Why the hell is that so hard for some people here to understand?

Mines a daily driver, but I could definitely use a beater, especially for winter.

Be serious! In 30 years there are going to be so many people on the road you would never take it out for a drive... if there is even affordable gas.

Yep I daily drive mine. Well, before it broke I did. And when it gets back from the shop I will.

No winters here. Not a good idea to daily drive in the winter. Not because the car can't handle it (snow tires do the trick), but because of the SALT.

I love driving mine but I usually drive the Z-71 or CBR to work. I drive the car sometimes though. I got it for fun, not for transportation. But it does make getting somewhere so much more fun than a normal vehicle!

Yea and 30 years ago we were all going to be flying around like the jetsons today.

You all enjoy your daily driver fbody. I do not care. But respect my decision not to drive mine everyday and we will have no issue.

mine is kinda a daily driver but I work at the same college as my mom so I just ride with her to work since we work the same hours. Its my only car but it is somewhat a garage queen I drive it about twice a week maybe when i have class. When i go out with my girl friend we usually just take her truck cause she get free gas and there is more room.
