I've been dreaming about this car for quite some time now, and i get envious every time i get into my buddies car. Still don't have the money as im still in the prime of my college career. A f*uckin ticking noise definatly isn't embarrasing, pulling up to a ls1 with my 14 year old integra cuz i can't afford an ls yet is embarrasing...

give me an fbody and i'll live with a god damn jackhammer, you've got an insane small children eating V8 about 3 feet away from you. if u want...we can swap cars...my car is quiet as a mouse...cuz it's got about 90-100 hp...

I ABSOLUTELY hate the squeeling of the brakes. that drives me nuts. i think the tiking is from the ac. cause the other day, mine was making the same noise when i had just turned off the ac, then when i turned it on, it went away.

You will know if you have the tick. Mine has done this since I bought it new with 4 miles on it. I have taken it to three different dealerships and they refuse to tear in to the motor. Everyone tells me that there's something wrong with my valve train, except the GM dealerships. It does tick really loud going through fast food restaurants.

I tried to blow the motor up racing so I could get a new engine while the car was under warranty, but it just keeps running like a striped *** ape.

It's embarrasing as hell to have the tick, I rev it to 1500rpms and the tick will go away for about 30 seconds and then return. It never gets any worse.

Yes, you will know if you have the tick. It's a noisey lifter for crying out loud.

*Another noob question*
Ok i just started to notice a tick, not to loud but loud enough to hear it at idle. My question is, now that i know it's quite the normal thing for LS1's to do, how do i know that it's not a header leak or bent rod? Are these ticks a lot louder? Are they that much louder that you can hear them even while driving? What's the easiest way to find a header leak?

Read post #37 and your tick will be solved. You can thank me later. ~Joshua

Wow I didn't know this was such a common problem on these cars haha. After my LT/ORY install I noticed it a lot more but thought there was something wrong with my car, glad to know its nothing to worry about.

Loud exuast, no cats and headers helps out a lot!
Now how hard is it to change out a head light motor?

I love the sound of my LT1 & magnaflow echoing off the walls of a drive-thru!

But then I have the screech of the Carbotech XP8's to deal with. I didn't feel so bad about that, though, after I listened to some SCCA GT cars screech into the pits during a race at Mid-Ohio last year. I was like, "Hey, mine sounds like the big boys!" lol

Oh, yeah. The old tollbooth shuffle.

1) Undo seat belt

2) Open door a crack. DONT DING IT ON THE CONCRETE PILLAR!

3) Squirm out of the small crack in the door to deposit change into toll booth. Shouldn't have had that triple cheeseburger for lunch!

4) QUICK! Get back down into position and go before the gate closes again!!! GO GO GO!!!

ok i know this is a really old thread .. but i have a question...
my tick comes and goes, and changes volume considerably

sometimes it will start up when i first get going .. maybe 5 min into a drive.. and sometimes it takes longer, and sometimes it doesn't happen at all.. after a while it usually goes away... i don't understand it at all.. i'm guessing its the lifters.. and from the mechanics i've talked to its not really a serious issue. i'm just curious though.. its been going on as long as i've owned the car, the past 2 years.. and its never adversly affect my performance.. and when i run the car a bit harder especially when theres alot of variation in the RPMs it won't come on.. and i think alot of times it starts when i'm holding the same rpms for awhile.. thanks for any wisdom you guys might be able to lend

Holy old threads, Batman!

anyway...

Ticking is caused by one of many things:
Small exhaust leak
Broken or Collapsed lifter
Loose rocker
Wrong oil
Timebombs
Oil pressure too low or not enough volume
Bent pushrod
Excessive piston slap

i think my driver side power window is embaressing, goes down, then gets stuck when you bring it up half way... wait a few seconds, go up a few inchs, wait a few more... CLOSED!
