Stock for stock the cobra will run you over. After full exhaust and good tires it will be a good race from a dig, depending on how good of a driver you are you might come out with a win. Stock for stock, cobra FTW.

a terminator from a dig will strait up own you, but you are going to beat it out of the hole, we cant launch very well, and when we do, all we get is wheel hop, then the boost kicks in, once you finally stop getting wheelhop, and breaks them loose again.

because of the IRS, the cobra's strong point is definently a roll race.

but if the guy knows how to launch his car, which in a terminator isnt a simple task, then he may even beat you form the dig.

Well to be fair the cobra would have to be just motor but sense the cobra has a Supercharger than you should get one as well. If you do that you would eat him alive. John

whoever said cobras only run a manual tranny since 93 was a little off, i've seen countless auto cobras and my friend has a 98 svt cobra that's auto. go to svt.ford.com that should show some auto cobras

A4 with a good 4k stall and a bottle will more than walk the cobra. It's really hard for a 6 speed with the same power as a stalled auto to keep up. Stalled auto FTW!!!!

Despite the fact that you are technically correct, your reasoning is flawed.

Both cars are factory stock vehicles, therefore its a fair comparison, regrdless of cylinder count, Forced induction, transmission type, ect. If the S/C was added aftermarket, then it would be a different story.

Considering the fact that a stalled A4 is going to be losing anywhere from 5%-10% more power than a standard manual trans, a good driver with 4.10's and a 6-speed should be able to hold his own, if not win.

Get a stall and some tires, then race him from zero. Let off at around 110 and say that's what you trap anyway.

He's liable to be coming on pretty strong at those speeds.

I've always read that a cobra needs about 50 more rwhp to make a close race with an LSx f-body. Stock for stock, they are going to run a little harder.


And BTW, a stalled auto will be faster than a 6-speed car from a dig, different story from a roll, most of the time. All you have to do in a manual is downshift to "stall it up", it's got a 0-limiter stall.

Stock for Stock it won't be THAT much difference, you're still gonna get pulled regardless if its from a roll. If you go from a dig and get out in front it'll take him a bit to pass you.

Give him a pulley and you have no chance unless his engine blows.

well have you raced yet. I raced my friend with an 03 cobra I have an m6 z28 at the time all I had was lid,k&n,t/b by-pass,lm1. And he had running with the devil tuning,k&n intake,magnaflow exh, something else and the supercharger sucked me up and spit me out no questions asked. I got the jump and he smoked me and it wasnt funny. ofcourse he was power shifting and i was regular shifting he just wanted it more i guess.

Round 2 with my new mods "in my sig" will soon come. But he ordered the 4#pulley so once again i dont think i have a chance.

if you guys want to magazine race, yes, coby for the win. Realistically, anyone with a stock 03 cobra who wants to race a stock ss to "see how they match up" doesn't have a clue, and would have a good chance of f'ing up his launch/shifting and losing. He may have a 13.1 second car, but his car may not have a 13.1 second driver. I'd jump on it in a heartbeat, and when he loses, watch him flip out the rolodex of excuses.

And yes. Cobras come in auto. Saw an 03 just the other day.

You guys can be really ugly on here. Here the site says LS1TECH and you are talking like you own a Cobra. I have raced a SVT Cobra and got beat in my 2000 Trans Am but in my 1990 Trans Am(which is no where near stock) I can beat Cobras all day long. John

Well the 2000 Trans Am is all Stock(Just drive it for the A/C)
The 1990 Trans Am was taken apart totally.



A Nelson Racing Twin Turbo Small Block 350 with a Racing Turbo 400 Transmission.
Two much parts to list.
It made 980 Horsepower and 1120 Foot pounds of Torque at the wheels on pump gas. Best ET to date is 7.795 at 205 mph. I got pics of it you you want to see it. The car is not street legal but I take it out on weekends to make the imports see what real turbo engines look like. John
