Unhappy Checked out the T/A tonight...

It's motherfucking expensive but I'm working on figuring out if it's doable...

This is what it is:

2002 Trans Am
6-speed
Sunset Orange Metallic
power everything
black leather
t-tops
WS.6 Package
50,000 miles

It is 100% exactly what I was searching for... year, color, transmission... and it's just absolutely perfect. However, they want $23,000 for it. They're planning to give me $12,600 for my truck with the dent and scuff on the taillight. That's not bad considering blue book is a little over $13,000 in excellent condition. However, $23000 is way too much for this car.

What do you guys think? The Sales Manager did a little research for me and said he couldn't find one even just in Sunset Orange Metallic for sale within 1000 miles of here. And I believe him...

This car belongs to some guy's brother. The brother bought it at the dealership at some point but then he went back to Italy so his brother is selling it for him. What do you guys think I can do? I want this thing so ******* bad... I think it's doable but it's close. I have to call another insurance company tomorrow to get a rate quote. I called my current and they said ~$360/month. I called Esurance and they said $307/month. I'm trying Mercury Insurance tomorrow.

I want this thing...

I would say it is a solid $5000 over priced, however it is the dream f-body for many people and it comes down to supply and demand. As far as they are concerned your thinking about paying it, so from their point of view I think they got the right price tag on it.

No way in hell would I pay 23,000 for that with 50,000 miles. Ask him if the 23,000 price tag comes with a kick in the nuts, either for you or him.

Ya thats crazy maybe if it had 12K on the tach. You need to get them down to like 19-20 atleast. You can find some from private owners with under 10k on the tach for less then that.Or if you cant talk them down say you want a warrenty at no cost and low APR/ intrest payments. Id work every angle i could before i gave in to it unless you are in a real hurry to get 1 just remember there is always something better and cheaper just have to look.

yea that is way overpriced for the mileage...youd be better off buying a different 02 WS6 with 50K miles for like 15K and thn having it custom painted SOM, and it would still be cheaper.

I know I aint got a ws6, but my 02 Z with 37000 on the clock was 21000. And that was in 05. Its got alot of options, but not all of them, I would say its nicely equipped. Why doesnt it have cruise control, or power windows? ITS A RACE CAR!!!

Well I'm doubting that it's going to happen at this point. I think I might just look around for a nice early 4th gen. I have a feeling that's what I'll end up doing. I really want a LS1... I absolutely love the body style and it's such an awesome engine.

I'm having my doubts about it now. It's just too much money... but I am sick of my truck. I'm getting rid of this thing, even if I do lose some money on it. Thanks you guys. I want this car so bad but I really need to be making more money...

I guess I will look around on eBay a bit. I checked around on AutoTrader and I didn't find too much.

If you really want an LS1 at a more resonable price, why not consider some '98-'00 cars? IMO, most '01-'02 cars are overpriced. People think there is some huge power difference because of the LS6 intake and the truck cam. Guess what; the difference isn't that much at all.

Either way, you could buy an LS6 intake and an aftermarket cam package that will make a lot more power than the stock '01/'02 stuff would anyway for a lot less than some of these inflated '01/'02 prices that I see floating around.

You could probably find a '98-'00 car with half the miles for $8-10K less. Granted, it won't be SOM, but neither would an "early 4th gen" (LT1) as you stated.

Look for a better deal and then get your car painted SOM if that's what you want.

Well I've come to the decision that I will get the insurance quotes tomorrow and then I will call her and tell her that she either needs to get it for me for $350/month or it's not happening. It may be my dream car but it's not worth throwing my life away and risking all of my financial security for it. We'll see what she says.

If that goes sour, my search continues and I will broaden my color range.

Thanks, guys.

For that price you could probally buy a NICE vette or a GTO, I love my F-body to death but the fact of the matter is they dont hold their value that well especially considering the millage, so its an 02 and has 56 K on it. That isnt even low millage
