My lS1 expierence for the first 5,000 miles
Ok, So i bought i 1999 camaro ls1 and put about 5,000 miles on it...It was bone stock with 20,000 when i bought it....I added a ls6 intake, borla exhaust, slp lid, bellows, S3 TB...K&N....The car was also a 6 speed.....Overall i think it was a good car...Real noisy though...The car had good power...great midrange, real good topend, average off the line.....My only complaints are the weak rear, which made me too parinoid to do any 3-4K launches, and the sqeaks and rattles off a t-top car....but damn I love t-tops.....Anyways i sold the car last week...yeah i miss it...but made money on the whole thing so i can't complain...It's either going to be a T/A next or a cobra....Just thought i'd share my expierence with my first ls1..Thanks

TA looks great and its easy to mod......you can do autocross, road racing, drag racing and daily driving with an LS1 fbody.
A cobra wouldnt be a bad idea either....the 4V is great, especially in the 03/04. They are mean looking and take to mods REALLY well. Kenne Bell, a tune, and a few suspension mods and you have a car that looks good and is an all around performer that you can drive on a regular basis.

it takes alot less money and time to make a Cobra go alot faster than an LS1. However, LS1 T/A's are the baddest looking cars around and the LS1 is very tried and true.

Well the irs rear is about as weak as the ls1 rear.. they break halfshafts like we break 10 bolts ..
My buddys KB 600rwhp 03 cobra' rear end only last 93 miles on 315 drag radials driving around the town, and starting howling really bad ! and yeap sure enough gave out on the way home, what a mess

Cobra would be really cool, easy mods out the box but have read they are hard to tune with the DOHC engine. No knock sensors also makes me a little leary of them, don't know when something will go poof!
I can share the same relationship with my LS1 TA, everytime I punch the gas it makes me feel like getting out after I stop and running around with a huge smile!

Yea cobras may be faster..but way more expensive! but take the extra money that it costs to get a cobra and throw a supercharger on an LS1... imagine that kind of power! u may end up putting a little more into a supercharged LS1 than the cost of the 03/04 cobra stock.. but not by much.. and a supercharged LS1 would eat a cobra anyday!
let me know what you end up doing man.. your camaro was bad ***.. you should get another one.. there are too many TA's around here in flushing! only a few Camaro SS's around!
Good luck
