Default My car not what is used to be?

Hello all i drive an 02 ws6 and was wondering if my car is at the former glory it used to be. My car dyno'd at 352 hp/353(pretty conservative tune) tq to the wheels last year. MODS: Slp Loudmouth, QTP headers into a Y(no cats)- Slp airbox(paper filter), rebuilt tranny, Ford 9" with 4.11 gears.

I put down 12.7 at the track(with 2.2 60 foot) b4 my new rear went in and i felt that i could get it down alot more. Now after my rear went in my car does feel faster but maybe it's just b/c it accelerates quicker.

Heres the ball buster. I raced my friends next to stock(catback, k&n air filter) 2004 gto and we were pretty much DEAD even i pulled just a bit. He just put new spark plugs in, octane booster, took out spare and jack. I'm am extremely dissapointed in my car right now. I should have destroyed him w/ the 4.11 gears but it did not happen. I did have a full tank and jack/spare in trunk- but that should not offset the gto's added 300 pounds of weight the car carrys. I'm wondering why my car did not walk all over him since i have eaten up 05 gto's and the new c6 vettes and i consider myself a pretty decent driver.

I'm wondering if the parisitic loss from the 9 inch has anything to do w/ it? Also i have not changed out my sparkplugs since i got the car at 22,500(ac delco ones)- the car is now at 47,000 miles.

Why did my friend stay with me from a car with far less mods, HP, and weights like 300 pounds more? I also have a shiftlight thats tuned to my max hp/tq shiftpoint.

thanks ahead of time.

Yeah man it really bugs me, b/c i know my car used to be able to trash people but lately it just seems like its not the animal it used to be, top end seems to have bogged down like 60-100. I wonder what the problem is.

wow that makes no sense....i raced a stock 05 from about a 20 roll and pulled him pretty hard.....maybe the kid i raced just couldn't drive worth a sh*t who knows....but something is up with your car. Any dyno numbers? Perhaps taking her to the track and seeing those numbers might just tell you it just lost the SOTP feeling or something is really up? Just some suggestions good luck to ya

Yeah i have PULLED on 05 gto's and the new vettes like it's nothing my car is usually an animal. I know i could get low 12's(or used to be able to). But then i raced my buddy the other day and it was just like "Holy crap". But his moter is def the ls1 no the 2. Hopefully when i do this tune up my car will return to her former glory.

ls2>ls1....an pulling on a c5 is understandable...pulling on a zo6, is doubtful unless uve got a good amount of things done

you answered your own question at the beginning.

You had a 10 bolt, you now have a 9 inch ford rear.

you've added more rotating mass to your drivetrain. This will eat up a lot more torque and hp than you realize. Even with the gear ratio increase, you've also added more weight over the 10 bolt.

The benefit is you can probably dump clutch (if your clutch and transmission is good enough) at a hell of a lot higher rpm for a good launch.

So from a roll, with the loss in torque/hp you are lucky to be dead even with a LS2 GTO. Off the line will be a different matter.

if you dynoed 352 with a beefy 9" and 4.10 with stock internals...thats one of the highest i have seen stock(headers...but big deal). Sounds like your just used to the speed of your car and seems "normal" now. Slap a cam and heads and wake that bad boy up. I have 135K WS6 and did heads and cam and my car sounds mean.

You guys keep saying ls1, the kid has an ls1 gto. I have 352 to the wheels ls1(before the 9") Guess i need head/cam

if it was 352hp/353ft/lb to the wheels before the 9", it ain't that now!

the torque loss is what really hurts the 9" why most people that do the 9" also have a serious heads cam package that goes along with it.

All told, that means you are now competing with a strong ls1 based car (GTO) with improvements in exhuast setup (albeit slightly) over the stock 02 f-car exhaust setup. Remember a ls1 is a ls1 is a ls1, and all the little factors you mentioned end up evening themselves out. You have this, he has that, but you have this etc etc In other words, yeah sounds about right that you are now dead even.

Just think though, on a launch you can dump it at a hell of a lot higher rpm on slicks.

Have you missed and shifts or anything? You could have a bent pushrod.

seems like if he bent a pushrod he would be hearing some nasty tapping when it got up in the RPMs not only just feeling a difference
