Default Chevy LS1/LS6 V-8's...BUY THIS BOOK

Howdy! I just picked up "How to Build High Performance Chevy LS1/LS6 V-8's" by Will Handzel and I must say, this book has a ton of information about the different engines and it seems like every detail you would want to know is in here. It has part numbers, explanations of every component, and it goes into detail about the truck motors too. Definitely pick it up for something to look through...I paid 20 bucks for it at Barnes & Noble so not too outrageous.

Without a doubt, an amazing book, especially if you want to work on the car yourself.

It is extremely informative. I especially liked the in-depth history of how the GEN III V8s were conceived.

I have this book and there is some great information in it. However, some of the dyno graphs are blatantly fake.

You can also get it from your local GMPP dealer. I ordered mine through work for $16.95. Great book I have read through it once completly and I keep going back to it to refresh myself.

Its a pretty good book. Some of the info is dated but still holds true. They have a very interesting dyno comparison in there showing stock LS1 heads, ported LS1 heads, stock LS6 heads, ported LS6 heads, and LS1 and LS6 intakes. The swap them all around using the same cam which is like a 224 or 228 cam and it shows the gains with different combos.

I got the book and I had never built a motor before that. and I had no problem with the motor. like I said FIRST TIME EVER. ran for 30k miles then It got pulled for a 408 which is going in now. I reccomend it to anyone who is looking to build there own motor, or just wants more information on the LS1/LS6 platform.
