Default Car Domain - Full of clueless people?

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2441201

Some kid with a V6 posts on my guestbook saying that Camaros only have 310hp and everything I put is bullshit. So I replied back with the facts... few examples (MM&FF articles) ... he still thinks my car runs 13.9 in the 1/4 and I am making stuff up. LMAO...

Thought you guys might get a laugh... anyone else deal with someone who just won't listen to the truth?

it's best not to fight an idiot...they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Also, stupidity is not engine-specific

he owns a lt1 though too, so you'd think he would have some common since(Like the lt1 makes the same power as the vettes lt1..or damn close to it). I love people that magazine race. there is one thing..like using facts from a magazien like saying. well this guy ran a 13.9 at one point.... So in theory..you should be able to run a 13.9 too, but its not an absolute. ****, my first run was a 14.2 at 101 because i let off because it was my first time going down the track and i let off at the first beam cause I thought that was the end. second run was a 14.0 at 104 with a 2.6 60ft..does that make ls1s a 14 second car..lol. No, just some shitty drivers own them...lol. Now, I'm down to a 13.5 at 108 with jsut a catback in similar weather to you, but with a 2.4 60ft. This kid probably has never been to the track before adn assumes that all times in magazines are absolute because those guys drive cars everyday.

find the article in CHP on where they compare the 2000 Vette to the 2000 Camaro and they both lay down the same dyno numbers (+/-) corrected for drivetrain loss and atmospheric conditions. he cant argue with facts remember?

Some folks just need a good bitch-slappin'. The trouble is they can throw their little taunts at you in between lookin' at Internet **** in their bedroom at mommy and daddy's house and don't have to back it up with anything from the real world.

Rock on.

You also said your bone stock M6 has 375 hp and that the 0-60 is only 4.6 seconds. I guess the 0-60 is possible on really good tires and a sticky track, but I'm pretty sure the LS1 puts out ~350 hp.

Here's a similar article where a 98 Firebird puts down more power than a 98 Corvette.

According to the 2camaro guy I only have a 5 horse power loss through the drivetrain because when I was completely stock I put down 305rwhp and 310tq. It would be nice to have a drivetrain that was 98.4% efficient!

That's S.O.P. for the internet, I ran into one here last month. Good luck trying to help a village idiot with the facts.

It kinda mimics society in general. Plenty of stupid people in the world...guess we just have to get used to it.

That was actually based on online calculators off 1/4 mile based on weight.

Taking 15% DT loss from 375hp gets you 318.75rwhp... which if I am not mistaken the 01 ~ 02 cars come close to putting down right? At this point it was merely a guestimate ...

15% of 350hp would be just under 300rwhp... which according to my curb weight would mean I shouldn't be trapping as high.

15% of 360hp would be ~306rwhp...

I believe 15% was the right DT loss..but I may be mistaken.

Even though I'm a Mechanical Engineering major I don't take to kindly to math .

An LS1 is an LS1...right? GM reported the Vette to have 350hp. It's likely they under-rated the Fbodies to justify the price difference between them and the Vettes. But why would they under-rate the Vette too? I don't think they need any justification for the price difference between a base Vette and a Z06.

Also, I might be wrong here, but aren't 03-04 Cobras good for about 390hp at the fly? If an Fbody had 375hp stock, then a lid should put us in the same league as the Cobras, correct? I'm not sure about my #s, but I am sure that I'd get my *** handed to me by a SC Cobra.

I haven't been dyno'd, but I believe about 300 RWHP sounds about right on average.

That number is actually closer to 425bhp; stock Terminators are putting down 360-380rwhp.

Considering the Cobra still has a little weight on the F-body the HP numbers don't really compare evenly to begin with.
