Hey, I'm not arguing that it isn't a musclecar, just trying to be a little more specific. And you have to remember, just because Pontiac called it one doesn't mean squat... at one time they probably said the Aztec was good looking, or called the Sunfire "sporty"

Just because Ford wants to call it a Pony car doesn't mean squat to me. It's modern american muscle. The fact that Pontiac agrees does more to convince me then Ford ever could to disuade me.

Like I said before, the most famous of the Camaro name was the Z/28.

The Z/28 was invented specifically to compete in SCCA "Sports Car Clubs of America", I would say that makes it a sports car. The SS 396 or COPO 427 is a different story, I guess you could say there both a muscle car and sports car? I would say the same for the Vette, the big block Vettes werent known for the great handling but they had tons of power and torque...Muscle car?

Call them what you want.

Exactly. This reminds me of a radio bit they play locally here sometimes. It goes something like:

"Your parents were baby boomers. But Generation-X sounds soo much cooler."

Ford might say pony car, a select few might say sports car but Muscle Car sounds soo much cooler

no no no. Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) is just a club name; nothing official. Now-a-days, civic hatchbacks join this club and compete in local SCCA events. that doesn't make the Civic a sportscar.

Also, in the official SCCA event, the Z/28 was totally transformed into a sportscar (one seat, lightweight components, complete performance). however, the street version was not considered one, no matter how many people decline this statement. just because it's fast, looks cool, and has only 2 doors, doesn't mean it falls under the same category. i admit, it's CLOSE, and has many similar attributes as a sportscar, but the 4-passenger seating capability just kills that theory.

I think that they are muscle cars. IMO anything that is capable of running low 13's off the showroom floor is a muscle car. They may not SOUND like a muscle car but that can change. I thought my sounded a bit ricey until I got LTs and cat-back. Now it sounds NASCARish hee hee!

musclecars are cars that have 2 DR and RWD and compromise things like comfort and luxury and emphasize straight line performance.

fbodies are textbook examples.
