ran out of gas....now SES
Well i ran out of gas tonight. Freakin, I thought some kind of low gas or check gauges light would come on. According to the manual. That never happend so I kept drivin it. Well i put gas in it, $15 worth now the SES light is on. Car still drives fine, still pulls hard. Anyone know why that happend??
Hopefully in the morning it should be all gone.

yea I know how its real bad on the fuel pump. I honestly thought I could drive it a bit longer since the low fuel light did not come on. The manual says, when the light comes on you still have 1-2 gallons. Oh well for that.

Well this morning when I drove to work. There was no check engine light, no weird noises coming from the fuel pump, no sort of surging, or bucking. Knock on wood that when I go home after work it stays that way.

My 98 doesn't have a low fuel light either (my manual says it does also). I smoked my fuel pump because of hitting the empty mark a few times when I first bought it. Be careful I learned the hard way .

When I hit the red, I pushed it a good 20 miles and when I reached the gas station, the most I could muster into the tank was 13 gallons. I figured I probably have almost 3 gallons left in tank when it hits the red on my guage.
Never starve the fuel pump. Dropping the tank is a pain in the ***.

Well my fuel guage works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't so i never know exactly how much gas ive got LOL. But when the needle shoots up to 1/2 tank and then shoots back below "E" the check guages light comes on. What makes the check guages light come on? Is it the fuel sending unit that make it throw that light on, or is it some other sending unit or something? Im thinking that all the LS1 cars 98's n up came with the check guages light. my 99 has it so i would think the 98's would to but i have a TA.

I get a red check guages light when I'm running low. Not tighting your gas cap properly will throw an EVAP code that will go away if you re thighten your gas cap, at least it did with my moms saturn.
