I didn't poll because I don't use any oil between 5000 mile oil changes. I don't beat the **** out of it, and I have 123,000 miles. I have used Castrol Syntec since I had 800 miles on the Formula.

Maybe 1/4 quart every 5,000 miles/8,000 Kms or so--if that.

my car doesn't burn any at all, I try to change every 3,000 miles or so, sometimes sooner only because the oil is free

I usually go and buy Royal Purple though, and my car is primarily a drag car, so it DEFINITELY gets beat on, and street driven.

i didn't vote because no response applies. i run GC 0W-30 for 4,000-5,000 miles. very little oil burn. some is normal and expected. less than half a quart in a 5,000 mile interval (the previous mystery oil burnt much more in 3,000 miles). i don't beat the **** out of my car. my car hasn't seen over 100 mph since i went to the track 3 weeks ago. it has also only gone WOT three times since then, all within a few minutes of each other because i installed an FTRA. i love my car and try to treat it well. i feel if you treat a car well, it will treat you well.

because the LS1 has big oil consumption problems and castrol syntec blend isn't good oil that can overcome them. i bet he's using a 5W-30 weight also. cheap thin oil is a death sentence for the LS1's PCV system.

I go through a quart of GC in about 2000 miles. Other brands I've tried can go as low as 1500 miles. When I bought the car, it had a fresh fill of Quaker State 10-40 dino, and it didn't burn any in 3000 miles.

I only use Syntec blend in my beater. I use 0w-30 Syntec (german import) with K&N hp2006 filter so it will hold six quarts, in the bird.

My '98 uses no oil (using M1 0W40 or M1 5/10W30).

My '00 used a lot of oil though, about a quart in 800 miles.

I get 250 -800 miles per quart! Doesnt mater what oil and not very little goes in my catch canI just changed my valve seals, and unless i did something wrong, that means its rings.

Smoking when I get it on it pretty bad doesnt matter what RPM especially in Neutral revving, what does that mean most likely rings?

How long ago did you do this? And have you run into any problems?
