Default It Never Ends: How Much Did You Spend on YOUR F-body This Month?

did a lot of work on the old firebird this month.

coolant flush, new thermostat and housing - $140
FTRA - $170
QTP stainless cutout - $43
transmission fluid/filter change - $120

and now i just found out my water pump probably took a ****. 3 weeks ago i had my car up on a lift changing the coolant. the undercarriage was dry as a bone. i get my coolant flushed out, now i have a anti-freeze leaking out of somewhere, and it's not the thermostat now i'll probably have to buy a fugging waterpump see what happens when a car has stock coolant after 5 years and 33,000 miles? you flush it out and you unplug leaks. DAMN IT i'm pissed. what else could it be other than the water pump? it's only leaking down one side of the motor, it's weird. you can't see where the leak is coming from either from on top or under the car.

Uhh... almost $6k in september!!! $2600 for body work and paint, $2400 for wheels and tires, $200 alarm + $100 install, $110 on tips, $100 on mats! I think I've spent like $12k on the thing this year. (But that includes new motor, heads, some internal stuff, ya know the stuff that costs money but no HP, R&R on the motor, tune, Stage II tranny, stall) and I'm about to spend another $600 on shocks. But hey September is my birthday month! At least I can buy alcohol now! The crazy part? I've spent all that money and still dont have a working antenna.

Let's put it this way, if I didn't love driving my car so much I could probably have afforded long tubes, cats, true dual cat-back by now...

If it's the water pump, it'll be leaking out from right under it. You should be able to see it. There is a weephole that starts leaking before the pump goes completely bad. You may or may not be able to see the weephole (can't remember), but if it's the pump, it'll be leaking right under the pump. Try O'Reilly's for a replacement. I got one for my wife's 5.3 Yukon for $140ish with a lifetime warranty.

As for F-bod $$ this month:

$600 - wheels and tires
$500 - LS7 clutch
$25 - eBay catch can
$10 - misc catch can parts
$5 - revised PCV valve
$7.50 - 1.5 qts of oil to replace what it burned
~$60ish on gas

In all fairness though, the amsoil should last a while so I could spread that one out over the next 6 months.

$5700 for body work & paint... got rearended by an uninsured driver, and went ahead and got them to refinish the front end to get rid of rock chips etc.

EDIT: Well if we're factoring in gas & insurance & payment.

$5700 - body work & paint
$358 - car payment
$225 - insurance payment
$220 - gas so far... generally my gas bill is right around $300-$350 @ the end of the month.
$93 - random interior pieces i broke in a fit of rage when that bitch rear-ended me, punching **** and yelling.
$240 - New moser 9" axle
$525 - 2 New wheels & all new gorilla lug nuts
$60 - Axle bearing & axle tube seal
Grand total so far this month:
_____
roughly $7500

btw... i've only owned this damn car since february, since then i've done all of the above plus:
$1450 - Torq thrust 2's + rubber
$2500 - Moser 9"
$650 - LS7 Clutch & new slave cylinder
$75 - Fixing my exhaust cause it was ghetto rigged.
$150 - SLP Line Lock
So it's been 6 months since I bought the car and i've spent out of pocket roughly $11,650 not including any insurance/carpayments, if you were to include those i've spent $3500 in insurance/car payments + $11,650 fixing **** = $15,150. I paid $14,000 for the car in February, so I pretty much could have paid off the car by now.

Don't even get me started on gas, in the last 6 months, looking @ gas card history i've spent about $2000 on gas since february.

My 5.0 is on its 3rd water pump in 20K miles. High rpmr motors LOVE! the water pumps, also power steering took a hit.
