But IMO the late 60's, 70's and early 80's where the best rally days

I am the purple drifter. I am the premier f body drifter in the u.s., and in the world. To drift an f-body, do the following: get the bmr drag race sway bar for the rear. fabricate your own very heavy sway bar for the front (I took a heavy bmr bar and cut 2 inches out of it and welded it back together). That's it. YOu now have a drift machine. To enhance it, you can put in a better posi, adjustable shocks and springs, adjustable a arms (set to 8 degrees positve caster), notch out the lower arms (to increase turning radius), modify your stering arms (shorten by one inch) to increase your turning radius (1 inch will increase it by a whopping 12 degrees!), the more low end torque, the better. If you do all these mods, you should be able to compete on the international level. The f-body is way, way better than any 240 sx or ae 86 could ever hope to be. It is drifting's biggest secret. I will be competing against japan in irwindale in december--see you there!

ugh, who are you? do you even have a d1/fd/topdrift liscence? you sure seem to have a big head.
any rwd car can drift. Fbodies work great, they are a little short in the steerign angle department but when your doing it for fun it works just fine.
glad to see some you guys going out there giving it a try and
HAVING SOME FUN!!
hope to see more ls1's out there sliding around at events.
12secss is that a justdrift at balcony? i think somone sent me pics of you sliding and i was like oh cool
evilws6, add a quart of oil and it will compensate for slosh. but with any type of road racing/auto-x/drift/fun stuff with corners, nothing beats a accusump or dry sump for bearing safety, but adding a quart should work out totally fine.
btw, here's a car i was known for piloting last year, followed by my own car i used this year. next year ill be in the ls13 again, as well as a new ls14 im building, or a 71 camaro, or possibly something cooler, but no matter what, it will have a lsx motor in it.

Drifting = a total lack of class and styling.
If the cars looked decent instead of tastless I think more would be interested.
And its not the make/models either, as personally have nothing against any of the cars used, just the way they look.
Powersliding is

this is also judged

so is wakeboarding, CAR SHOWS, most popular/improved driver of the year awards, etc etc etc. its not racing, nobody (we are exluding idiot high school kids) said it was. its a judged competition of car control. just like freestyle motox, skateboarding, etc.
seriously, quit being a bunch of haters. if your too stubborn to have some damn fun then so be it. but seriously, how do you compare boiling the tires off a 400+rwhp car at 80mph inches off a wall completely sideways yet in control to some fruitcakes dancing on ice with blades that could totally make a cool bloody action movie with lots of death and destruction, and pants that should be on someone like jessica beil. seriously, apples to apples here.
btw, since you said all those cars look gay i guess the canards/bodykits/wing on these cars are equally as gay. and for the love of God look at the widebody, ewwww, and the stickers oh no!! ricer ALERT!

Wings in drifting are mostly for lifting the smoke up higher to give a show effect, the vacum/turbulence behind the car keeps the smoke behind it. So no matter how it looks you should have a wing on youre drift car. Download some movies from my site in my signature and study it yourself. there has been a few discussions about drifting on this forum and its a bit dissapointing, and it would be nice if this thread got a bit more back to topic to.

i dont know what drifting forum you are on, but the peopel that really drift at a pro level wing IS added rear downforce. contrary to popular beleif you want rear grip in a drift, because it increases speed. however the ability to spin 275's out back at 80mph with a wing on it is a lot, which is why most the top cars now are 450+rwhp, and runnin at least 275's out back.
if you want to see some aero in action on a drift car, look up rhys millens gto from irwindale in 05. they put a big piece of lexan down the right side above the 1/4 panel, to direct air onto the wing to increase rear grip therefore increase speed. nobody could touch him alllllllllllllllllllllllllllll weekend. then in the final round, the ls1 did its thing and the power steering pump died.
its like any other motorsport, more traction, more power, more downforce, less wieght, you go faster and have more control.

I KNOW!) comparing the street CTS-V to the R version.
