So my Z should actually be ZY8 correct. Y for Y-pipe exhaust. Just playing

Well, Olds' 442 was 4 barrel, 4-speed, dual (2) exhaust, I think. So, sometimes they mean something. I always wanted a '70-'72 big block 442.

WS6 = Whoops a Stock 6.

It was originally thought up by the consumer when the ricers though that V6s were big. Then GM created the WS6 to combat the smaller V6s. That was when the first V8 was created, in 1997. It is scientific fact.
I like this definition...

SS = Super Sport
Z28 = RPO Code
WS.6 = RPO Code
RS = Rally Sport

I think GM needs to pick either letters that stand for something or RPO codes and stick with it I wouldn't mind owning a Chevy Camaro WU.8 haha

That is a model name, like Berlinetta, but using numerical characters. RPO (Regular Production Orders) are alpha-numeric. Lxx are engines (LS1, LQ4, L98), Zxx are suspension (Z71, Z51, Z28), etc ... this convention doesn't apply to COPO (Central Office Production Orders, no longer around) The way RPOs are assigned is just like part numbers ... the new part (or option/package) gets the next RPO code designation in line, based on what the option/package will be. Did you guys know some Camaros had Z29 suspensions.

A couple weeks after i got mine, a guy in a bmw pulled up to me and asked if it was a 6 cylinder, because he saw the WS6 emblem...forgot all about that..

WU8 is the code for Firehawk.

It's short for when a Firehawk is racing an import and the import driver says "W...uuuuh (dumbfounded) -ait!
