Default Should I sell my LS1

I have been throwing around the idea of selling my 2001 SS Camaro. I have the car payed off and I think it would suit me better in the long run to sell it. The car has just under 56K miles and mods include Slp intake w/K&N, Duplicate of fast toys ram air, MSD plug wires, Jet Hot LT's, Lanes True Duals, Coilovers on all four corners, Slp Boxed sub-frame connectors, Most of the stock options along with a sub-woofer in the trunk.
Heres the thing, I have been looking at 03 Cobras for a while and I am thinking that I might sell and go with the ford. I would not have to take out a big loan because the Camaro is payed off. I would not be doing much to the cobra because I only want a low 12 second car thats reliable. With the camaro I would have to replace the rear. I am just stuck becasue I like my camaro and have done the all the work on it so we have bonded. But a Black 03 Terminator would suite me just well. What do you guys think?
Sorry for the book.

Huh?

Why would you need a big loan? If your car is paid for, sell it privately, and use the cash as your down payment. I would think that'd make your loan rather small actually.

Either way I'd keep the Camaro. But I suppose that's because speed alone isn't everything to me; anyway you can make any car faster than any other car with the right mods, and starting with an LS1 makes it that much easier.

Personally I own a Camaro because I want to, not because it was the cheapest way to go fast at the time. Hell, I could have a ZO6 right now if I wanted to, but I don't. I really love F-bodies. But hey, to each his own. Life is short, do whatever makes you happy.

Go with what you want deep down inside. I myself have thought about the same thing your thinking, even know some people who have traded there ls1's for cobras. I like the engine compartment mustangs and I don't think they have as many stupid problems with them as the LS1s (e.g. cracks in door panels, brakes, weak rear-ends, headlight issues trans am have.) I decided not to do this though because I see lots of mustangs. And I'm a huge fan of my car. But I think you should do with what you want.

I just think I could make a Cobra a more reliable 12 sec car, without spending all that money replacing the rear and a H/C package.

In the end, it will probably cost you less to get a H/C package plus rearend than it will to sell your car, take a loss on the parts you've already bought for your LS1, then take out a loan on a more expensive car, pay interest on the loan, and buy new mods.

No door panel cracks or bad headlight motors for the Camaro though.

The '03 Cobra's can be very fast with just a few mods, but they too, can have issues. Sometimes you won't hear the whole story from a car owner. You have to own one to really know what they're about.

Yes it will be cheaper. You are working with a stock F/I car that is already strong from the factory. Honestly though with your mods you should be on your way to the 12's now regardless.

I don't know the going rate on 03 Cobra's, but make sure you research before you sell your car. You may have to chip in a few $ to get a clean black Cobra w/out alot of modifications.

Either way, you are going to drive a nice car.

All makes/models have some sort of common issue, espeically performance cars.

I agree, I have thought about a 03 04 Cobra also. But I like my Z28 too much and it is paid for. The Cobras are going for some big money if low miles.

As someone who has owned both a low 13 second car, and a low 12 second car, there isn't really that much difference between the two. 99.9% of time driving around town you wouldn't even notice. If a low 12 second car is your goal, I would recommend that you mod your camaro to that level.

Took some pics and I really like the way it looks. This is a hard choice.

wouldn't know.. never drove an 03-04 Cobra... i suggest you start there. If your thinking of getting a new car don't limit yourself to the 03-04 cobras... look at a Z06 as well... but i guess it's all just a personal thing.
