How fast (top speed) can a A4 Fbody go, modded? 200mph!

What sort of top speed have some of you guys clocked with a modded A4 setup.
4th is 0.70:1 which isn't all that different to the T56's 5th gear at 0.74:1
Now a stock Corvette will pull about 180mph @ 6000rpm in this gear. So what about some of the modded A4 Fbody's?
4th with 3.42's should be 191mph @ 6000rpm anyone had their A4 Fbody up to that speed or more? How much rwhp did it take?
And looking at the calculator if you could pull 6500rpm in 4th with the 3.42's that would be 207mph. Surly some of the 450rwhp+ setups should be capable of this.
As a side note a BIGGER, HEAVIER BMW M5 with 500bhp is capable 205mph with the limiter removed. so it must be possible.

Hmmm... I never looked into it that specifically. How modded do you want us to be?
I know for a fact i did over 160. I have an A4.
I hit the speedo limit (155) and was over that for awhile with plenty of RPM's left. So I figured I hit a little over 160. maybe 162-163 before i shut down.
on H rated tires. that was completely stock. once was enough.
in fact, i made a thread about it asking others their top speeds at the time. was maybe a little under a year ago.

Not sure about auto's, I have an Manual. In 5th gear doing about 5500rpm your at 163mph. If I wasn't so scared to take my hand of the steering wheel to put it into 6th perhaps it would have uplled more. Have popped in into 6th at 140mph, but didn't accelerate any further, perhaps cause i wasn't in the power band.
A vette with the same engine will achieve a higher top speed with lss effort, this is due to the aerodynamics.
In n FBody going about 160mph it takes about 200hp just to puch it theough the air. No just to increase he speed by 20mph to 180mph, it iwll take 280hp to puch you through the air. The faster you go the HP seems to increase rapidly. So at these sort of speeds, its not the weight its the shape of te car.
Now a BMW M5 is a simular shape to a brick, so I would say if you have the gearing you can equal that 205mph with less HP.
At 160mph my front end started to feel rather light, thing you may need a wing/skirt on the front to keep it down.

Well I've banged the 158mph limiter in my 2.73 geared auto plenty of times. And I've seen reports of stock M6 Fbody's topping 172mph with the limiter removed.
I think for the near 200mph with an auto you really have to be talking 3.42 rear, 3.73 or 4.10 and you'll simply run out of revs far too quickly.
I'm someone must have done this on the street, there are plenty of vids of Manual Vettes pulling 190mph+.

with good suspension mods and springs, lowering kit, good tires and light rims. I think over 160 these cars would be a ton more stable I know I remember feeling real light on the road.
if someone did over 170 in one, I'd say you were crazy.
even modded? is there really much you can do to your car to achieve a higher TOP SPEED without modifying the aerodynamics and weight of the car itself?
I dont think f-bodys were meant to do over 130 safely. and even that in society standards is much faster than you ever should go.

for 2001, i found the top speeds listed on this publishing companys website, the trans am was listed for 160 and the ws6 was listed for 164.
http://www.fast-autos.com/transam.html
http://www.autosite.com/content/rese...on=showarticle
they talk a bit about the floating after 130 in the 2nd article.
another guy listed his top speed on his 01 ws6 as 170

I doubt the stock speedo would be acurate at judging top speed. There is some error built in to factory speedos -- for example 200mph on the speedo may actually be 190mph.

You can not compare what a manual F-body did to an A4. With both cars having the same gears out back, the auto will still run out of gear sooner then the manual due to the converter not being locked up. Expect to loose 3% from this, then factor in heat for prolong periods of time, which deminishes the grip the auto bands will have. To get to 200 MPH in any vehicle with 400rwhp, you will need time to overcome the aerodynamics, especially with an LS1 F-body. The auto does not like being run at WOT for a very long time, it builds tremedous heat. Also running WOT in 4th gear (4L60E, .70 is overdrive) will accelerate wear on the clutches and bands. You trans will not live very long with this abuse. If you can use a Multi-disc lock up converter, you may have a chance, but heat will still be a problem in order to reach 200MPH. Look up Nata SS, he is into open road racing and has been clocked around 190 MPH in his manual SS. He is the most reliable source on here for what you are asking.

Having said that though, by cross referencing the tacho and speedo I've found the speedo to be pretty accurate.
The speedo shows just under 160mph and the tach reads about 5600rpm. According to the gear calculator: http://www.f-body.org/gears/ it's about bang on. Plus it tally's nicely with the 158mph speed limiter. As this is a 2.73 geared car this is done in 3rd/D.

I've cross referenced the speedo with the GPS up to about 100mph and its bang on, when I done the 163mph, of course it was off the clock so could only rely on te GPS to do the speed. This was on the revlimiter in 5th gear.
Often speedo's are made to read higher so you think you are only just over the speed limit but you actually doing the speed limit.
That C5 going 183mph but showing 195+ was about 6.5% out. The cops give about 10%, so if the speed limit is 70mph you can legally get away with 77mph. As they allow 10% speedo error.

I was once racing a 911 twinturbo from a high speed roll on the highway, about 2:00AM on the way home from the track. I sprayed my car as soon as we hit it, and started pulling nicely, needless to say, I was psyched. First time I looked down, the speedo was already buried, still accelerating in OD. We slowed down and went again, this time from about 145 mph! Pulled on him again, now hes PISSED! I put like three cars on him, then lifted. He stays on it and pulls along side me, I look and my speedo is still buried, and he wants to go again! So, I stand on it, from about 160+, in OD.Ran it out for about 8-9 seconds, seemed like an eternity, must have hit at least 170+, probably more. Only saw about 5700-5800 rpm in top gear, pulls to 6300-6400 cleanly on the spray. What a rush.
The car makes 440 rwhp/560ft/lbs at the wheels on the ****. Nitrous rules!!!
Only wish I had a camera to get a shot of the poor schmuck in that 911, beating the **** out of it, and getting his *** handed to him by a lowly Z-28. Priceless.

I was running a mustang down I 95 from Jacksonville, I hit my rev limiter @6500 rpm in an A4, and the bitch that was with me decided to roll down the window. I had to slow down to 120 to get it back up, I though it was gonna break off.
