They are all bolt ons. Well except things like plug wires. They are push ons.

Still gotta pull the motor apart to access the valvetrain, even if it is only the valve cover that needs to be removed. By that same concept you could say "well I only need to remove the oil pan to access the crank". Its just not reasonable.

Cams are not bolt ons, no matter what the application is.

You need to pull the balancer to do underdrive pullies on an LS1, thats more involved than a valve cover imho. I dont see your point. You also must pull the springs out from under the car to change shocks, I consider shocks a bolt-on. On a mustang GT 4.6L you must un-bolt a motor-mount and jack the motor up to install LT's, going price for labor alone is $500+ at Dallas Mustang for that. I think that a cam-swap in a DSM is a bolt-on. Thats like saying you have to remove your lid to change the air filter so its not a bolt-on. Valve covers arent hard to pull...

I see your point, but all the examples you provided are for external engine components. Shocks are not even part of the engine. They are not engine internals, cams are.

Obviously the valve covers are not hard to pull - but you are still modifying internal engine parts. Therefore it is not considered a bolt on, because its not a mod to the externals of the engine.

Thats my opinion as well as the general consensus, I think most on here will agree.

"Bolt on" - There is nothing stating or implying an external nature. For instance "bolts onto the exhaust manifold"(header) Or, "Bolts on to the head" (DSM cam). Most DSM forums will tell you that a cam(s) in their cars is a bolt-on mod and can be done in less time than it takes you to do LT's in some cases.

http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17830

If the LS6 PCV is a bolt-on then so is that ^ . Period.

Yep, that is in the "External" section if you look where it's posted...a helluva lot more than a valve cover gets taken off there, I belive its the intake and it takes longer than a DSM cam swap too.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...hlight=LS6+PCV

(ok, fine dammit, I just enjoy arguing, but I think I have a strong case!!!)

Procharger on an LS1 is real easy to install. I'm going to get one and call it a bolt on.

Bolt ons are not all about ease of install. A cam is not a bolt on. Period.

Thank you. I'm glad someone else has some reason on here. Engine internals are by no means bolt ons in any case.
