Default How much should i expect to pay???

I think this can go here......

Over the weekend i spun a bearing.

What is a fair price to pay to fix everything....

from what i gathered im going to need....
rod bolts, bearings, polished crank, ect...

People at the track (ls1 meet) told me 1000-1500....does that sound right?

Im bringing them the car with out oil, water, radiator, fans...

thanks,
Eric

That sounds really low to me. If your having a shop do the rebuild expect about $5k. $1000 will barely cover R&R on the motor, let alone the work it will need. Unless you are just planning on replacing that one rod/piston and bead honing the cylinder. It will be cheaper that way, I was thinking full rebuild, but.. I still say more than $1500.

i know almost nothing about this but.......

From what 5-10 people from the track told me THEY said I shouldn't have to replace the pistons.

Oh, you don't have to. I was just thinking a average rebuild, new rings, machine work, balancing, ya de da, da, da. You can definately just beahone the cylinder (if its not too damaged in there) put a new rings on the piston and polish the crank (again, if the crank isn't too damaged) and some new bearings for that rod and put it back together. I'd imagine around $1000 for R&R (thats how much mine was) and if all your doing is the above, you may get away with $1500, but i'd plan for 2.
