A properly cared for LS1 should last very very long. And give you tons of power. The best thing about the LS1 is that it will let you know that something is wrong. It usually isnt the type of motor to brake something under normal driving conditions. And besides, you could build a budget stroker motor, or a forged 347 for less than a new stock LS1.

yep. They concluded they had to do build-ups on "seasoned blocks". That's the term engine builders use rather than just calling it a "used block".
