I agree, but when someone says cam only, I usually figure: lid, descreened maf, cat back, and a tune. if you have like every bolt on then you shouldn't be claiming cam only, but a lid, cat back and a tune, those are normals. well and free mods.

Yup, sounds like everyone covered it. When i hear cam only i think whatever boltons and then a nicer camshaft. No heads or other power adders

orangefun - that is not what most people think about cam only.
I won't cover it again as many people already have in this thread, but who gets a cam without full exhaust?? sounds about retarded to me...

the term "Cam Only."

generally when someone gets to the point of installing a camshaft they have already done the prior mods i.e, full bolt-ons, weight savings, suspension work, gears, clutch etc..

imo its easier to focus on the things that " Cam Only " excludes:

1.) aftermarket heads / or porting of the stock heads.(does not include springs and pushrods)

2.) Nitrous.

3.) Turbo or Supercharger.

4.) aftermarket rotating assembly / ANY internal engine modifications / any block prep work.

i think the term "Cam Only" is well suited for its description.

when someone says, "yeah its a heads and cam car." you know what they mean without asking anything more. you know they have everything aside from a built motor and maybe aftermarket rear.

when someone says, "yeah its a cam only car." you know they mean they DO NOT have aftermarket heads or a built engine and maybe aftermarket rear.

all in all, the term cam-only fits well for its discription.

IMO : no power adder's (ex: n2o, turbo, s/c...ect)
no internal engine work (other than tha cam)
stock heads (with springs of course)

anything else is fair game

I know a guy who had long tubes on his 99 T/A , then he put 01-02 manifolds(smog ) and his 1/4 didn't even change, see out here in CA if you have a cam and it doen't idle to bad you can sneak it through smog, so lets be real, any 50 state legal headers are not going to make much more, if any, power than an 01 02 manifold.

thats why we love the spray.

To most of us, "cam-only" can be translated into "too cheap to buy heads"
