That debate has gone on since the beginning of time. They work, period. They need tuning so that the fans come on sooner to really shine, just a 160* thermostat by itself won't do much.

I do not beleive in low temp t-stats for LS1 motors, unless they are running boost. For NA setups, 190*F is as low as I'd want to run the motor.

After looking at and experiancing both sides of the spectrum, there is nothing that anyone can say to change my mind.

Mine sits on a HAIR UNDER 210 normally and if I idle a lot it will go to 210 or a 1/4 needle thickness over it.

The factory temp guage isn't known for its accuracy.

Unless you have a '98 car, the factory temp gauge is worthless.

I wont argue the point, but if I let her set it will get a hair over, and when tis warming up it slowly heads for 210. I dont understand. I can agree its not the most accurate, but its not a "dummy guage" like fords oil pressure guage is it? If so, what OTHER guages in my car are worthless?

Yes, it is basically a dummy gage on the '99+ cars. It will sit within a fraction of 210 (over or under) when the engine temp is anywhere between about 180 and 230.

On the other hand, the '98 gage will register even small changes in temp, and though it's not perfect either, it makes the '99+ gage look totally useless.

I have a 160 degree thermo and mine runs at 190. The guage might be close to useless on an 01, but my tuner said it would run at that temperature. I chose to get the thermo because my faith does not lie in stock parts.

all of them besides the speedo. the tach is to slow causing some people to tap the limiter in 1st and 2nd while its registering low. The oil preassure is a dummy of course, coolant will read a hair under 210 from 180-230 or so. volts is actually accurate to my scan gauge. Fuel gauge will read e but when i fill it up, i would still have 2-2.5 gallons in there.

The easy way around this is to install a shift light of your choice. It is a necessity if you are going to be seriously rowing an M6. If you are worried about this looking too "ricey", they can be hidden in vents/dash openings/etc.
