Default How annoying is this?

Well this morning I go outside to start up my car heading out for class. It won't turn over! Great.. It's on the battery charger now.. but I think i'll have to hitch a ride to walmart and buy a new battery.. HOW ANNOYING!... I just hope its the battery.. My car only has 19,000mi on it . It got rather cold here last night.. could that have caused it? I'm guessing its the original battery, meaning its 5 years old.. guess I should've known this was going to happen.

Sounds like you have already answered your own questions and just need some moral support. Yes, cold temps and an old battery are a bad combination. These things always seem to happen at the worst times (freezing weather, pouring rain, blizzards, ect.)

Yep, 5 years is a good lifespan for the 'ol factory battery.

Sometimes they'll start to give you signs that they're dying, and then other times they'll just up and quit without warning. I've have both scenarios happen to me with the batteries in my 'bird.

Wow i get the brand new battery in.. and it won't start! The security system locked me out of my own car!!

My step-dad is on the phone with our friend that works at GM, I did the hold 2+3 and got the codes. I typed in the code GM gave me.. STILL WONT TURN OVER.. WTF? I bought brand new battery bolts and everything..

Now im going to have to pay to get it towed so the people at can probably press 1 button and get it started, and then charge me more money.. How awesome.

K well i fixed it somehow.. I unplugged the battery for 10minutes, plugged it back in.. The car turned over just fine! The radio was still locked though, I typed in the access code that GM gave me, unlocked the radio, turned off my car for 5 minutes to see if it would crank again, and it did!

I feel relieved.. oh well, to bad I had to miss class.. can't say that I mind it though

You can also just turn the key to on for like ten minutes and it will do the same thing.

That is very annoying when the security system locks you out of the car and won't let you start it up, no ignition, no anything. Boo to that.

Glad you got it going man. I have had both scenarios happen to me as far as them going out with no warning and them slowly losing their gusto. Sucks ***.
