Default Wix/Purolator filters

Well, we all know purolator filters stoopid small stuff and it also has the flow rates to prove it (BAD). Wix has been proven to have a great flow rate. I checked both websites and found that Purolator claims 10-20 micron filtration and WIX claims 10-12 Micron filtration. Interesting...

Rewind...

I was talking on thanksgiving to a relative of mine who uses Amsoil stuff exclusively (almost...). I asked him if he could get me a discount on some Amsoil filters, to my suprise, he told me his dealer informed him that Amsoil filters are made by WIX and just re-labled...interesting.

Was just doing a bit of research before my next oil change and thought I would share this little bit of info with you guys if you were interested.

http://www.wixfilters.com/productinformation/index.html

"Amsoil" filter on top, Wix on bottom...I think we have a match (the center tube looks a TINY bit different to me...thats about it).

Just a little something to think about before you fork over for a hard-to-find (somewhat) "Amsoil" filter.

Here is another interesting one for you....

http://people.msoe.edu/~yoderw/oilfi...lterstudy.html

After reading that, I went to Wix (napa gold) or Purolator only...I stopped getting Fram....except the TG for my expedition.

GC and K&N are a perfect couple for the LS1 engine.

Like stated above, Wix (Napa Gold) is an excellent choice also.

Bunch of good stuff on BITOG (oildrop) site posted above.

Don't know if it matters, but on the hot rod show with the procarger install for the ls1, I noticed the guys installed a fuel filter that had a faint wix stamped on it just like mine.

There is some truth to this but not entirely.

The new AMSOIL Ea oil filter line is "assembled" by WIX. AMSOIL gets the Nanofiber media through Donaldson and has it delivered to WIX for assembly. AMSOIL does this so they can put together filters that meet there strict criteria for filtration while maintaining the quality assembly that WIX is known for.

Look at these for reference: Take special note of the filtration media differences since that is the business portion.
AMSOIL EaO15
The NAPA 1515 is the same as the WIX 51515 filter
