I just hope it's a quick winter so I can break my car back out. Putting it away for the winter helps to keep my mileage in check. It had 17k on it when I bought it 2 1/2 years ago and I've put 15k on it in that time. But once we have about 2 good rains to wash that salt off the roads it'll be back out racking up the miles.

What's not fun about that?
That is exactly how I feel. A lot of people seem to think we are wasting our cars or not really enjoying them by keeping them garage kept and driving them only on nice days and special occasions. But I feel the opposite. I feel that I enjoy my car more this way, and I know that I am preserving my car, not waisting it.

And NC01TA put it well....to each his own!

And now the rebuttal.... lol.

We are on the same page. I agree with your thoughts 100% and couldn't put it any better. But we seem to be in the minority here.....

To me, it'd be a real waste of my car to use it for something like sitting though a 2-3 hour commute home in bumper to bumper traffic crawling along at 10mph during a snow storm. Tell me, where the hell is the fun in that?!? I don't care what car you're driving, it's a massive pain in the ***! And frankly, I'd rather be doing it in something super comfortable, something that isn't so special to me that it hurts to see it covered in salt and rock chips, and horsepower really makes no difference in those conditions. That's what I have a full-sized, roomy, soft-ride sedan for, it's like riding out the traffic jam on your livingroom sofa.

I drive my F-body purely for fun and pleasure. It's never used as basic transportation so every drive is special, and that's by choice.

I just view it as hitching up with a super model that can please in ways you can't imagine, and maybe doing it once or twice a year, instead of daily or several times a week. Sure, every time might not be as good as the first, but it's still damn good. And if she gets boring or something wears out, upgrade her. Applies to both.

To take the analogy one step further, driving a piece of **** beater 99% of the time, even when it's nice out, is like cheating on the model with the old hag down the block that has several dozen cats and smells like mcdonald's french fries.

Exactly. I've got a super comfortabe sedan in nice shape (realitive to midwest weather) full of luxuary options (bonneville) and an excellent condition 4 year old 25K mile sport couple with even more luxuary options/toys (monte SS) for when I get bored with the sedan. Neither one is anything like a beater.

Yeah...here are the last pics I took of it. I don't have a very good camera, and the lighting probably isn't the best, but you get the idea! PICTURES

Wow! Yours looks to be at least as clean as mine. Looks fantastic! You should be very proud.

I was thinking, maybe it's better if the rest of these guys keep driving their cars year round and rack up the miles. That way super clean cars like ours will become even more of a rarity and stand out more and more all the time.

Actually that's low mileage for a 39 year old car. About 7,700 per year.

Wow...that does seem like a lot, but like RPM WS6 said, I guess that really is low mileage for a car that old.
